More Crazy Talk - Color Throwdown #455

Here we go again, folks!  It’s time for another awesome color combo from the girls at the Color Throwdown!  This week it’s Jodi’s turn to hostess and she’s chosen this yummy, soft color palette for us: Light Pink, Lavender, Aqua, and White.

I was on a roll when I pulled out the Crazy Talk for last week.  I just couldn’t stop myself, so I created yet another birthday card, but this time I used the Crazy Birds with it.  Here’s my card:

Why not use pastel, ice creamy colors on a bird??  I adore his expression!

Hello, everyone!

I’m excited to be hosting the Color Throwdown this week!

I chose some fun, bright colors for us to play with:

The generic colors are Turquoise, Lime Green, Yellow and White.  You can add other neutrals too, if you want.  All of the challenge details are on the CTD blog.

Well, hello everyone!  It’s been awhile.

I took a little break from crafting and social media, but I’m back and ready to create and share once more!  And just in time for a very special Color Throwdown!

This is Barbara’s week to be our hostess.  She doesn’t know it but we’re honoring her for all that she does for us – the Color Throwdown team.  She is our leader, our go-to person, our tech-y advisor, our mother hen, and mostly she’s our dear friend!  So we are shouting a huge THANK YOU to her.  To YOU, Barbara!!!  We love you!

Graceful Still Life - a brand new Power Poppy digi release!

~

Hello, everyone!  The Instant Gardeners are honored to be able to present the newest Power Poppy Instant Garden release of Graceful Still Life.  So beautiful!

~

~

From our creative genius, Marcella Hawley:

To me, the most relaxing scenes are composed of elements that feel familiar, with touches of nature, style, and beauty. My home is composed of little still lifes - arranged on shelves, tabletops, windowsills, and basically anything that is not moving. This springtime still life is similar to what I'd set up in my living room: a Susie Cooper teapot filled with fresh-cut roses and trimmed branches of flowering dogwood, piled on top of a stack of decorative books (the books have to have cool-looking spines with great colors or nice typography, or they will not make the cut). Completing the scene, a straw hat with a millinery rose and berries, to suggest we've just come inside from gardening. But who knows if we have? Maybe we've just been sitting here, coloring up this still life.

 

I love the combination of dogwood branches and roses!!  I felt like the roses needed to POP boldly and that’s why I chose bright purple for them.

Valentine Love Bear - Color Throwdown #428

~

Happy Wednesday, y’all!

Are you ready for the latest edition of the Color Throwdown?  Lynn is our hostess and has a super fun and yummy color combo for us – Red, Pink, Chocolate, and White.

~

~

I just had to use my All Inside stamp set and matching dies again – perfect for Valentines! 

~

~

He’s watercolored with Distress ink and popped up over the MFT Stripes Cover-Up die cut which was colored with red Color Bursts.  The card base background was sponged with Distress Spun Sugar ink and flicked with some water.  Both the Love die cut and the little heart were covered with some Crackle Accents just for fun!

Sweet Pea Show - a new Power Poppy digital image!

~

Hello and happy Sunday, everybody!

Today the Instant Gardeners from Power Poppy are so happy to introduce a brand new digital image called Sweet Pea Show!  It’s fabulous!

~

~

Here’s what Marcy had to say about her Sweet Pea Show:

Aren’t Sweet Peas just the most nostalgic, romantic, homespun flower ever? I sure think so. I’ve created this “display” of some especially divine ones just for you — while you are coloring them up, I hope they also conjure up wonderful memories. Sweet Pea Show comes with a few Valentine’s Day sentiments, as well as a sweet little hello.

I decided to watercolor these sweet peas.  I consider them a sweet and “casual” flower and so I was casual in my watercoloring technique too.

~

I cropped the image and overlaid one of the great sentiments when I printed it.  Then I used my water brush and some ink from an ombre (pink to purple) watercolor stamp pad that I smooshed onto my craft sheet.  I also used a couple of my Zig Clean Color pens to fill in the background and shade the blossoms a little.  Then I used a black pen to outline the sentiment and to frame the piece.  I LOVE this image!!

All-new Four Wreaths and SALESGIVING at Power Poppy

Hello and happy Friday!  Did you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving?  I sure did!  I ate way too much and enjoyed the wonderful warm flip-flop Southern weather!

Today is SALESGIVING day at Power Poppy!  And the release day for Four Wreaths.  You can find all the information at the Power Poppy blog and at the Power Poppy store.

Today I colored up the Succulent and Baubles Wreath, using Distress inks on watercolor paper.

~

I really love the idea of using succulents in a Christmas wreath!  All different shades of green, red and purple!

Fox Wishing - Color Throwdown #420

Hey there!  Happy Wednesday to you!

It’s time once again for another great Color Throwdown challenge!  Wanda has a wonderful combo for us this week!

Love those soft colors of Autumn!

I wanted to play some more with a large background stamp and inks, so I pulled out my new Simon Says Stamp 6 x 6 cling stamp called Circle Doodle along with several different Distress inks.

Pair that with an adorable little water-colored fox from the Hero Arts Winter Time Fun set and I have a cool birthday card for a dear friend!

I adore this sweet little guy.  Chickadees are one of my favorite varieties of birds!

Here’s what I did for today:

I went with hot pink as opposed to red accents for this card and I love how the black & white contrast with the hot pink.  This one is colored with my Kuretake Zig Clean Color pens.  He was such a joy to color!

Sneak a Peek - Color Throwdown #414

Hey, y’all!

It’s time for the latest and greatest episode of the Color Throwdown challenge!

This week Amy Rohl is our hostess and here are the awesome colors she chose for us to play with:

You probably think I’m going to show you a beachy card again, right?  NOT!!  Ha, ha!  I’ve been playing with my new Clearly Planned stamp set from Taylored Expressions called Sneak a Peek in my planner, and just HAD to make a card with it too!  It’s just too cute not to!

~

~

Aren’t those little sneaky peeky guys adorable?  I just drew a line with a pencil then used my Misti to line them up peeking over it! The cool frames are from the All Framed Up die from Reverse Confetti.

The background and the little guys are all watercolored, and I’m entering this card into the Addicted to CAS watercolor challenge.
