Sunny Vibes Tulip - Color Throwdown #533

Happy Wednesday, people!  I hope wherever you are it’s warm and sunny.  There’s a little bit of a chill here in the South and I am NOT a fan!

Moving right along, it’s time for a new Color Throwdown challenge and I’m hosting this week!  The generic colors I chose are Purple, Lavender, Gray, and Kraft.

Power Poppy recently released a couple of sets of new digital images.  They are based on the clear set Natural Beauties, and they are SO pretty.  I chose to use the tulip image from the Spring Border One set.  It was a little bit of a challenge with the limited color palette, but I really liked how it turned out.

~

~

The tulips were printed on Bristol smooth watercolor paper and water colored with my Zig Clean Color pens.  Then I die cut the image, covered it with a scrap of paper, and airbrushed around the edges with the die still on.

5 Days of Digis - Miraculous Mushrooms

~

Did you hear about the big digi release at Power Poppy?  It started on Friday, July 20, with a free digi image!

~

~

Today is day 5 and the release is the Miraculous Mushrooms digital stamp set.

~

~

Marcella says:

From our wildly popular Wild Mushrooms clear set, I’ve selected a favorite drawing, the Fly Agaric or Amanita muscaria, to release as a digi. The only difference, this image is a little larger than the clear stamp, and I've also taken out the lettering that identifies the mushroom, to allow for a bit more flexibility with your creation.

The Fly Agaric mushroom is the classic red-capped mushroom with white spots — as seen in countless fairytale books, along with in you emoji keyboard on your phone.
Enjoy bringing this forest treasure to vibrant life — and I hope you are filled with as much of a thrilling feeling while coloring as I feel while drawing the finds from my mushroom hunting adventures!

Includes a no-line version along with a wonderful sentiment for the inside of your card from that sage, Ralph Waldo Emerson: "Adopt the pace of nature; Her secret is patience.

 

And here is the card I created using this beautiful image (I used the no-line version of the digi).

This was so much fun to color!  I used my Zig Clean Color Brush pens.  I added a few randomly placed sequins,  and then added some embossing paste as the “warts” on the largest mushroom.

~

~

I'm also entering this card into this week's Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge to Use a Die and/or Punch.

Hummingbird Thanks - Color Throwdown #484

Hey, y’all!  We’ve come upon another Wednesday, so that means a brand new Color Throwdown challenge! 

This week our hostess, Amy Rohl, has a bold & bright color combo for us – Eggplant, Green, and White.

~

~

It’s almost time here in the South for the hummingbirds to show up.  They almost always show up on April 1st and stick around our area until September 1st, sometimes a little later.  I’m anxious for them to come back.  I love the little whirring sound they make when they’re flitting about, and they’re so much fun to watch.

So when I saw the cute Hummingbird Thanks stamp set from Pretty Pink Posh, I just had to have it!  And here’s what I came up with using this week’s colors -

This little guy was watercolored with a Zig Clean Color marker (No. 080 Violet) and he’s flitting about a WPlus9 Pretty Peonies flower.  The background was smooshed using Distress inks.

You Are Mer-mazing - Color Throwdown #483

~

Hello, you guys!  I’m the hostess for the Color Throwdown challenge this week.

I’m ready for some warm weather to come and stay awhile so I chose some fresh Spring (or Summer) colors for this week: Coral, Green, and Kraft. 

~

~

I thought these colors would work well for a Mer-mazing underwater scene, using the super sweet Mermaid Love stamp set from Flora & Fauna.  If you look closely you’ll see a tiny hint of blue water in the background.

~

~

I stamped the shell throne and the sea plants first and then water colored everything!  The cute mermaid was also water colored, die cut, and popped up on her throne using some foam mounting tape.

We would LOVE for you to play along with us!  I bet you’ll come up with some fabulous uses for these colors!

Too Cool For School - Color Throwdown #477

~

Hey, y’all!

It’s time for the latest and greatest Color Throwdown challenge!  This week Lori has chosen a fresh and fun color combo of Aqua, Orange, and Grey.

~

~

Although the inspiration photo shows snowmen (love those quilted place settings!), I decided that these colors would be best used for an ocean scene!  Bet you would never have guessed that!

I couldn’t wait to use this super cute whale from the Essentials by Ellen new S’Whale stamp set.  Fabulous design from Miss Julie Ebersole!!  And perfect for a male birthday card!

I simply sponged Distress Oxide Peacock Feathers onto some watercolor cardstock, spritzed it with water, then stamped the waves and little fish.  I used a Copic multiliner pen to line the bottom of each fish to make them stand out a little more. The panel was die cut with the Wonky Rectangles die, then I sponged on some sky in Tumbled Glass Distress ink.

The whale was also stamped onto watercolor cardstock and painted with Zig Clean Color pens in light gray and blue gray.  I fussy cut him since the matching dies were out of stock when I ordered.

Hello Dearest Friend - Color Throwdown #471

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  The latest Color Throwdown challenge is up and we’re just waiting for you to play along!

Here are the elegant colors that Amy Rysavy has chosen for us – Black, Grey, Gold, and White.

I wanted my card to be simple and elegant as well.  I chose to color the Altenew Sketchy Floral image.

~

~

I was going to use watercolor pencils but then decided to try out some acrylic paints on my cardstock.  I used a tiny (size 0) brush and some white and metallic gold paints – linked below in the supply list.  I also used No.091 Light Gray Zig Clean Color real brush for some shading. 

~

~

Power Poppy Raspberries!

Hey there, y’all!

I know I don’t usually post on a Sunday, but I just had to pop in and post a card I made using the new Raspberry digital image from the brand new Power Poppy Cherries and Berries release!  Isn’t it great?

~

~

And I used the colors from the new Hues to Use challenge at the Power Poppy blog. 

~

~

So finally, here’s my card:

~

~

I printed it (after rotating it a little) onto some Bristol Smooth Surface paper and watercolored with Gansai Tambi colors as well as a couple of Zig Clean Color pens .  After a little creative cutting, I popped it up over some coordinating cardstock and added some Nuvo Jewel Drops in Key Lime and some highlights with a white gel pen.

More Crazy Talk - Color Throwdown #455

Here we go again, folks!  It’s time for another awesome color combo from the girls at the Color Throwdown!  This week it’s Jodi’s turn to hostess and she’s chosen this yummy, soft color palette for us: Light Pink, Lavender, Aqua, and White.

I was on a roll when I pulled out the Crazy Talk for last week.  I just couldn’t stop myself, so I created yet another birthday card, but this time I used the Crazy Birds with it.  Here’s my card:
