Sending a Prayer - Color Throwdown #635

 Hello, and happy Wednesday, y'all!

This week at the Color Throwdown our generic colors are perfect for heralding in Spring and Easter: Pink, Purple, Yellow, and Aqua.

~

~

Those are the cutest little bunny cakes!  I bet they are delicious too!

However, I needed a sympathy card and a floral image is always a good idea for that. 

~

~

Of course I chose a Power Poppy digital image, Bountiful Bouquet, for my card.  I water colored the image, then masked it and stamped an image from the Papertrey Ink retired Ombre Builder set as the background.  I added clear water with my brush to make it fade and blend. The sentiment stamp and die cut is also from Papertrey Ink, the Inspired: Prayer set.

You Are A Warrior - Color Throwdown 665

It's Wednesday again, y'all!  And time for the newest Color Throwdown challenge.  Our colors are Pink, Lavender, and Aqua.

I wanted to make a card for my granddaughter who is playing on her very first softball team this year, and they have made it to the playoffs!  I'll be traveling to see one of the games tomorrow!  So excited!

~

~

Is that not the cutest lion?  If you look closely there are positive adjectives hidden in his mane.  I love the encouraging message of this card.  Inside it says "I.can.I.will" and "there's nothing more perfect than doing your best".  I love it, and I hope she does too!

Hip Hip Hooray - Color Throwdown #663

Happy Wednesday!  I'm hosting this week's Color Throwdown challenge and the colors I've chosen for us to play with are Orange, Brown, and Gray.

This is a pretty subdued color combo, but you can jazz it up by increasing the brightness of any of the colors.  I used some brighter orange tones in my card.

~

~

I used the Organic Elements stamp set from Ellen Hutson LLC and created a leaf by water coloring directly onto each stamp, and applying the stamp to the paper. Then I used my glass pen dipped in the gathered twigs color to outline the leaf parts and to add veining.

I water colored the background with a light gray and splattered all the colors onto the panel.  The sentiment from the It's All Good stamp set, also from Ellen Hutson LLC, was stamped in gathered twigs too.

Healing Prayers - Color Throwdown #651

Happy Wednesday!

Are you ready for the latest Color Throwdown challenge?  This week our colors are Navy, Aqua, Green, and Magenta.  A beautiful palette!

My card for this week is a sympathy card for some close friends, using a beautiful digital stamp called Healing Prayers from Graciellie Designs.

~

~

The image and sentiment were printed onto water color paper then painted.  When dry it was cut using the new Essential Arches die from Ellen Hutson LLC.  The layer beneath it was pierced with the A2 Piercing Plate, also from Ellen Hutson LLC.  I love the texture that this adds to the card!

Welcome to Wednesday, y'all!  Today we have a brand new color combo for everyone to play with at the Color Throwdown blog: Yellow, Gray, Black, and White.

I was in need of a masculine birthday card, and you know this palette is just perfect for that!  And I just had to use the new (to me) Organic Elements stamp set along with a great sentiment from the Good Day stamp set, both from Ellen Hutson. The sun is from the Abstract Sunset die set.

I also added a little bit of Star Dust Stickles for some real "shine"!

Deep Sea Octopus - Color Throwdown #649

Happy Wednesday, y'all!  This week at the Color Throwdown we have a bright and cheerful color combo: Purple, Blue, and Green.

Great combo, huh?

Well, I needed a card for Grandson #2's high school graduation, and since he shares my love of the sea my choice of themes was very easy!  Here's his card:

I LOVE this Deep Sea Octopus die from Memory Box (and he did too!).  There is some silver paint spritzed onto the water.  The octopus and fish were all water colored before they were die cut and attached to the sea water scene.

Abstract Sunset - Color Throwdown #648

Hey, y'all!

It's time for the latest, greatest Color Throwdown challenge.  This week our bright color combo is Orange, Pink, Lavender, and Green.

I just purchased several items from the new Essentials by Ellen release, and I couldn't wait to use them!  My card features the Abstract Sunset die, along with the A2 Piercing Plate and the Essential Arches die.

~

~

I water colored the entire piece after die cutting it and taping it from behind to hold the panels together.  I intentionally offset and raised two of the panels to show some dimension.  And I just love the look of the piercing on all of the panels.  I added Glossy Accents to the sun and some random enamel dots in each of the colors. Doesn't the arched opening make it feel like you're looking through a window at the sunset?

You Are Fin-tastic! - Color Throwdown #646

Hi, everyone!  It's time for another new Color Throwdown challenge.  This week our colors are Light Gray, Aqua, and Navy.

I believe this calls for a summer-themed masculine birthday card!  And it just so happens that I needed a card for my oldest grandson who just turned 21!  Whoop!

I used the super fun S'Whale stamp set and dies from Ellen Hutson LLC.  I water colored the whale and used the Memory Box Waves 3D embossing folder for the background.

Hello and happy Wednesday!  Today for the Color Throwdown challenge, we have a fun and bright color combo: Yellow, Black, Gray, and White.

I decided to use butterflies....the beautiful Rubbernecker ones!

They are water colored and popped up over an alcohol ink background.  I used my Copic air brush to stylize it.

Sea Creature Birthday - Color Throwdown #641

Hey, y'all!  It's time for the new Color Throwdown challenge and this week we have a great combo to work with, courtesy of Amy Rysavy: Red, Pale Blue, Kraft, and Ivory.

I actually used the weekly colors to make a beachy card! (I know you like that, Nise!!) No surprises this week!

~

~

This was a pretty simple card to make.  I stenciled on the "creatures" then ink blended the background water.  After spritzing with some water, I dabbed it away, then flicked some of the colors onto the background.  I die cut the panel, added the sentiment, mounted it to the card base, and it was done!
