Thinking of You - Color Throwdown #480

Hello, everyone!  It’s time for a brand new Color Throwdown challenge!  This week our lovely teammate Wanda has a beautiful combo of Spring colors for us to play with: Lilac, Green, Gray, and White.

Gotta love beautiful flowers when it seems like winter’s been here forever!

Sadly I needed a few sympathy cards this week, so I used our color palette to create one of them.

~

~

I used Distress inks Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron to create the watercolor background.  Then I stamped the Layered Doilies image from Technique Junkies in SU Orchid Opulence.  (I still LOVE that color!)  The sentiment and heart are from the SSS Thoughtful Messages stamp set and are stamped in Versafine Smokey Gray.

Rustic Happy Birthday - Color Throwdown #399

Hi there, friends!

Is it really Wednesday again already?  And how in the heck did June fly right past me???  Geez!!

Here are the great new colors for this week’s Color Throwdown challenge (Chocolate, Pale Yellow, Red and Kraft):

Love that yummy inspiration!

I have no idea why I went with a “rustic” look on this card.  It just felt right, I guess!

~

~

I used the new-to-me Sketch Ranunculus from Simon Says Stamp.  LOVE it!  I stamped it in Soft Suede ink and then colored it in and shaded it lightly with my Copic markers.

It’s a simple birthday card that I think could be used for either a male or female.

Flippin' Happy Birthday! - Color Throwdown #398

~

Hey, crafty friends!  It’s officially summertime!!!  I am so stoked for my favorite season and I can’t wait to make my way down to the beach!

In the meantime, let’s get crafty with a brand new color combo from Lynn for the Color Throwdown – Red Raspberry, Hot Pink, Lime Green, and Yellow!

My card today is for one of the many, many summer birthdays in my family, using the PTI set Flipping Out.

~

Everything is water-colored using Distress inks, for a super easy and fun card!

You Are Loved - Color Throwdown #392

~

Hey, y’all!

Do you know what day it is??  That’s right, it’s Hump Day!  Or better known as Color Throwdown challenge day around these parts!

Let’s get right to the color combo for this week:

~

Isn’t that a beautiful photograph?  I’d bet that it’s a photo of Greece, which is one of the places on my bucket list.  Sigh.  Well, I can dream, can’t I?

And here’s what I came up with using the colors.

~

~

I used the What the Doodle: Feather stamp set and coordinating die set.  I stamped the larger feathers in Salty Ocean Distress ink then used my water brush to blend them a little.  I restamped them in the darker Faded Jeans ink to bring back the detail.  The smaller feather was stamped in Frayed Burlap ink.

My background was watercolored with the 3 above colors and with some Hickory Smoke ink as well.  Then I added some defining lines  with my Frixion pens, and used my heat tool to fade the lines a little.  Did you know that the heat will fade and eventually erase the ink from these pens?  Aha!!

The sentiment is from the fabulous That is All stamp set, which I know I’ve been using a lot lately.  I’m afraid you’ll have to get used to that!  Finally I added some Stone twine and some sequins.

This Little Piggy - Color Throwdown #391

~

Hey there, y’all!

It seems like I just finished last week’s Color Throwdown post, but I guess I’m wrong about that because here it is Wednesday, and it’s time for a brand new month and a brand new challenge!!

This week Amy Rysavy is our hostess for the first time so be sure to let her know how much you love this fabulous combo:

AND…. Amy Rohl has graciously accepted our invitation to join the Color Throwdown team permanently.  Yay!!!!!  I just love her style, don’t you!!??

Now on to my card!  I figured with this beautiful inspiration photo, everyone would gravitate to using florals.  So of course I used a pig!  A Birthday Pig from Rubbernecker!  And here he is:

I water colored him with my Clean Color pens and then fussy-cut him.  He’s popped up on foam mounting tape.  The aqua background was painted with my Peerless watercolors and a #10 brush.  I also tied on some Mandarin twine from the Twinery.  The great sentiment is from the That is All set from WPlus9.  This will go to my brother-in-law so no sequins on this card.

Lots of Chicks in Pants for Easter!

~

Happy Good Friday to you all!  I don’ have many words today, but I do have lots of photos for you. 

Since it’s the first Friday of a new month, it’s time for the latest Club Kit from A Day For Daisies!  The April club kit is all about Chickens in Aprons (and in Pants)!  We’re also showcasing Bunnies in Blossoms!  Both of these series are so precious and just perfect for the upcoming Easter holiday.

I chose to color the adorable Chick in Pants!  Isn’t this little fella cute??

On my first card, the image was colored with Copic markers.  The card base was embossed with the Dot Matrix folder and I used the Wishing die cut from Simon Says Stamp.

For the next 8 cards (yes, I said 8!), I water-colored both the backgrounds and the images then simply put them together and tied on some twine.

ADFD February Club Kit–Take Two

~

Hi there, everyone!  It’s Friday!  Yay!!!

I’m here to show you another of the cute elephants from the A Day For Daisies Club Kit for this month.  Today I’m using Elephant Present.

~

I colored this adorable little fellow and his gift with my Copic markers, then added some Star Dust Stickles to the gift.  The new ADFD challenge starting today is to ADD GLITTER.

I die cut a heart outline from the purple layer and added some aqua cardstock behind it, then spritzed with some Tinsel Color Shine.  (I also spritzed the t-shirt I was wearing with said Color Shine.  Hoping it washes out!!)

The border at the top and the little banner flag at the bottom were made using some cool new washi tape that I picked up at Michael’s last weekend.  I love the springtime look of it!

I tied up the top layer with some twine and metallic string, added my sentiment (love!) banner and was done.

All You Need - Color Throwdown #299

Happy: Framed - Color Throwdown #298

~

Hey, everybody!  It's time for our latest Color Throwdown challenge!  Monika is our hostess this week and has chosen a beautiful inspiration photo and color palette for us.

I just got some MORE new goodies from Papertrey Ink.  (I really need to block that site on my PC!)  So I just had to play!

I used the Phrase Play #5 along with the matching die on my card today. 

~

~

I used the die to cut both the Wisteria Wonder and the Pink Pirouette cardstock.  Then I snipped the "happy" from the pink cs and glued it on top of the Wisteria die cut.  It's popped up on foam mounting tape on the card front.  I tied on a piece of Blossom twine  and sprinkled lots of shimmery sequins on the card front as well.
