PEACE - Color Throwdown #714

Hey, y'all!  It's time for the latest Color Throwdown challenge and this week our colors are Navy, Mustard, and Brown.

I just purchased some of the latest Tim Holtz - Sizzix holiday collection dies and thought the Christmas Cutouts would work beautifully with these colors.  Here's my very first Christmas card for this season:

I really thought the background water in the inspiration photo looked like a galaxy, so that's what inspired my background!  I used a couple of the Ranger Distress Mica sprays to create it.

~

~

~

I painted the moon and stars with some metallic gold paint.  There is so much shine!  I love it!

The Little Things - Color Throwdown #685

It's time for another new Color Throwdown challenge, folks!  This week the colors are Orange, Green, and Tan.

Cool carrots!!  Of course, that's not the direction I took!  I wanted a simple and fun floral card so I pulled out my Ellen Hutson Organic Elements.

Gladys - Color Throwdown #683

Happy Hump Day and happy new Color Throwdown challenge day!  I'm your hostess this week and I've chosen these colors for us to play with: Gray, Pink, and Lime Green.

I love that beautiful bird!!  And his colors!

A couple of weeks ago a crafty friend and I traveled to a SSAT show in Columbia, SC, and had a great time shopping!  One of the purchases I knew I would make before I even left my house was the new Tim Holtz Sizzix Gladys, Colorize dies.  I went straight to it!  And these colors just "happen" to be right to show off my new girl.

She's a beauty, for sure!  I mounted her over a water colored panel and used the Tim Holtz Crazy Talk stamp set for my sentiment.

Possibilities - Color Throwdown #680

Happy Wednesday!  This week's Color Throwdown challenge is a great one!  I love this color palette: Light Blue, Dark Blue, Forest Green, and Brown. 

~

~

For once I actually used the inspiration photo to determine my design, complete with mountains and a tree!

~

~

All of my background layers, including the water colored sky were cut from scraps.  The tree was made using a Tim Holtz stencil, which was then fussy cut and layered over the background and the Essential Arches frame.  A Tim Holtz sentiment sticker finished it off!  I am really loving those stickers.  So many choices and so easy to stick anywhere you want them!

I Think You're Fabulous - Color Throwdown #678

Happy Wednesday, y'all!  Today's Color Throwdown colors are Pink, Red, Cranberry, and Kraft.  What a great combo!

So, I've got a birthday card for a very special lady to show you today.  And I had the BEST time making it too!

I always forget how fun it is to play with alcohol inks until I get a push to do so from someone.  This time the push came from Jennifer McGuire, and you KNOW how big her pushes are!!  Here's a link to her video that inspired me: Alcohol Ink Press Technique 

It was so easy and so fun!  And these colors were just perfect to play with!  The color that looks like kraft mixed in with the reds is actually a gold mixative and it's really shimmery IRL.  The sentiment is from WPlus9 and the sentiment die is from Technique Tuesday (links below).

Too Much Happy - Color Throwdown #677

Hey there!  It's Wednesday again, the last one of the month, and time for a new Color Throwdown challenge!  Are you ready?  This week our colors are Pink, Purple, and Green.  What a fun combo!

I needed another birthday card and I thought this palette would work great.  You know, one of these days I'm going to try to build a stash of cards so I'll have them available BEFORE I need them!  We'll see how that works out!

Wishing You Happiness - Color Throwdown #666

Hello!!  It's time for a new Color Throwdown challenge, y'all!  This week our colors are Orange, Brown, and Kraft!  Truly a fall color palette!

I decided to go with a wreath in these colors this week.  I used the Etched Eucalyptus Wreath die from Simon Says Stamp and ink blended one, then die cut the other from some patterned paper.  The background is lightly stenciled using the Tim Holtz Mini Stencil Set 21.

~

Mini Snowscapes - CASEd

Happy Friday, y'all!

I have a couple of cards to show you today that are a little different from what I usually post.

I've been following Heather Telford on Instagram (@heather.telford) and have always admired her style.  She has inspired me with all of her water coloring, especially the ones with trees.  Last week she posted some mini snowscapes which prompted me to go ahead and try it for myself.  Yes, I totally CASEd 2 of her beauties.

Here are my cards:

I used Eclipse tape to mask the moons and then water colored the night skies.  Heather used a stamp for her trees, but I used a Tim Holtz stencil for mine. I also outlined my tiny panels with liquid metal (pale gold) and then gold embossed my sentiment from the Power Poppy Mossy Pots stamp set.

I'll definitely try my hand at some of these tiny water colored panels again.  I love how they turned out!  Thank you to Heather for her inspiration!!

Autumn Birthday Wishes - Color Throwdown 613

Hello, all!  It's time for another Color Throwdown challenge and this week I am the hostess.  With the days getting a little cooler, I've resigned myself to the fact that summer is officially over.  So this week I've chosen some rich beautiful Autumn colors - Red, Orange, and Purple.

I had just received the new to me Sizzix thinlet dies called Cut Out Leaves.  They are so cool and I couldn't wait to use them.  Because the actual open areas were not very big I knew I wanted to use vibrant colors that would shine through!  So I pulled out my little-used alcohol inks and had a lot of fun playing around until I was happy with the color distribution.
