I Think You're Fabulous - Color Throwdown #678

Happy Wednesday, y'all!  Today's Color Throwdown colors are Pink, Red, Cranberry, and Kraft.  What a great combo!

So, I've got a birthday card for a very special lady to show you today.  And I had the BEST time making it too!

Here's the card.

I always forget how fun it is to play with alcohol inks until I get a push to do so from someone.  This time the push came from Jennifer McGuire, and you KNOW how big her pushes are!!  Here's a link to her video that inspired me: Alcohol Ink Press Technique 

It was so easy and so fun!  And these colors were just perfect to play with!  The color that looks like kraft mixed in with the reds is actually a gold mixative and it's really shimmery IRL.  The sentiment is from WPlus9 and the sentiment die is from Technique Tuesday (links below).

Live in the Sunshine

Hello, friends.  I know I don't usually post on days other than Wednesday, but I've made a few birthday cards lately and would like to share them with you.

Today's card is one for a dear friend who loves the beach/ocean/seashore as much as I do!  So a mermaid-esque card seems appropriate!

And I just love the colors so I know she will too!

I used the Scrapbook.com Scallop stencil and some of the Catherine Pooler Life of the Party mini ink set, along with my Taylored Expressions Blender brushes to create the mermaid look.  The sentiment is from the Technique Tuesday Bring on the Sun stamp set.

So that's my birthday card of the day!  I'll have another for you tomorrow and one on Saturday too!

You Aren't Normal - Color Throwdown 614

Hey y'all!  It's Wednesday, Hump Day, the day we start a brand new Color Throwdown challenge!  This week our colors are Purple, Green, and Khaki!

~

~

Pretty cool inspiration photo, huh?  But I didn't go the cool watercolor route because I needed a card for a fun young man; so I went with a "punny" card using Toadstool Garden dies from The Greetery.  And a super cool sentiment from the You Aren't Normal set from Technique Tuesday.

 ~

~

The inside of the card says "You're really awesome (then again, so am I)!  LOL!!  Same sentiment set.

Hello, Sunshine! - Color Throwdown #390

~

Hey, you guys, it’s time for another Color Throwdown!!  Wanda is our hostess and she has chosen a great combo!

~

~

I almost went the masculine route, but then decided it was time to break out the sunshine!! 

~

~

I used the Rays folder to emboss the top panel of cardstock.  Then I painted the impressed rays with my Squeezed Lemonade and Mustard Seed Distress inks and a water brush.

The sentiment from from the Technique Tuesday retired Bring on the Sun set was stamped in Salty Ocean and clear embossed.

I added sequins using Glossy Accents to attach them and then spread some of the Glossy Accents along the rays, pooling it at the top of each one.  It’s kind of hard to see in the photos.

The Challenge #70 - Masculine Fan

Hello, peeps!  My post title is a little misleading.  This is not about a fan that's masculine or a fan of the masculine, it’s about a masculine challenge for which I'm using a fan image.  Is that clear as mud?  Ha, ha!

See?  It’s really an airplane prop, but my fan has blades too.  Surely that counts!

A Wish Under the Sea

~

Happy, happy Friday, peeps!

This week and next the ADFD team will be showcasing an eclectic collection of images called “Cozy Day”.  The image I chose for this week is called A Wish Under the Sea.  What a sweet, sweet image!

~

~

I loved coloring this pair of sweeties using dye inks, Peerless watercolors, and my Copic markers.  The background is painted in ombre style (a little hard to see through all the sequins).  The hearts were die cut using Folk Hearts dies from the Essentials by Ellen line.  The sentiment is from Simply You by Technique Tuesday.

Our latest ADFD challenge is to Add Stitching, which I did by adding the faux stitching with a die cut to the card front.

My color palette today is from the Colour Q challenge cQc#324:

Layered Poppies - Color Throwdown #375

Yay!  It’s time for another Color Throwdown challenge!  I just love the colors that Joan picked out for us to play with. 

~

~

They remind me of Spring! Even though we haven’t really experienced very cold weather yet here in the South, if it’s not hot outside, I’m not happy!

~

~

I water colored the beautiful Layered Poppies from Rubbernecker with some Distress inks.  I love the green background in the inspiration photo, so I masked my poppies and sponged some Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn inks through my Dot Fade stencil.  Then I added some sponging along the right side of the water color panel too.

The card base is dove gray and the one strip down the left side is a darker gray wrapped in some woodgrain washi tape.

The sentiment is from the Technique Tuesday Simply You stamp set.

Simply the Best–Color Throwdown #347

Hey there, people!

I’m hosting this week’s Color Throwdown challenge and here are the colors:
~

~

I was inspired by the photo above of the vibrant and happy beachy bedroom ensemble.  So I chose these colors for our inspiration this week:  Turquoise, Hot Pink, Gray and White.  You can also use any other neutral colors of your choosing, as long as these 4 are your main colors.

Here’s what I came up with:

I tried something new for my background.  I misted some Dylusions Vibrant Turquoise spray ink onto some watercolor cardstock, then misted again with water.  When it was dried to just damp, I misted a background stamp (an ikat design) with some water and pressed it onto the watercolored panel.  If you look closely you can see the faint design it left at the top of the background panel.  When that was dry, I misted it with some Tinsel spray ink as well.

The same misting with Vibrant Turquoise and Tinsel was done to the pink journaling card.  I added some Pink Bubblegum spray ink as well.

My stamped sentiment is from the Technique Tuesday Simply You set and the Seriously die cut is from Lil’ Inker Designs.

The layout I used is from this week’s Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #273.

A Day For Daisies June 2015 Club Kit - Take Two

It’s Friday again and time for another great image from A Day For Daisies!  This week I decided to color up the Rooster with Flower.  He’s so very handsome and I think this will make a great masculine birthday card.

This fellow is colored with Copic markers and I added a little machine stitching for some texture.
