In the Garden - Color Throwdown #688

Hey, y'all!  It's Wednesday and time for a new Color Throwdown challenge!  This week our colors are Pink, Sage Green, Lavender, and Blue.  This is such a beautiful combo!!

Don't you love it?

I recently purchased Taylored Expressions' first Triple Slim Layering Stencil called In the Garden.  Y'ALL!!!!  This stencil set is SO easy to use and turns out SO beautifully that I know I'll be using this for many, many years to come!  Check out my very first attempt at some mini slims using our colors for the week and these stencils.

I followed Taylor's video instructions for stenciling and using Prismacolor pencils for outlining and highlighting.  I added splatters like she did but I used the ink colors of the flowers instead of metallic ink.  The new Signature Sentiments are the perfect complement to these florals!

The first 2 cards shown are horizontal mini slim cards.  I didn't have any 12 x 12 cardstock, which is what you would use to create a vertical mini slim (6 x 3.5), so I used the finished stenciled panel on a regular A2 card base letting it rise above the fold of the card.  I like how it turned out!

Hummingbird Hugs - Color Throwdown #705

~

Hey, guys!  It's time for another Color Throwdown challenge and this week our colors are Purple, Red, and Green.

~

~

Purple is a very general color label, and I chose to use a darker hue than the one in the photo for my card this week.

~

~ 

This birthday card is for a dear friend who LOVES purple!  And I think she'll love the hummingbird too! 

I used the new Layered Hummingbird die from Simon Says Stamp , along with a Sizzix Tropical Leaves 3D embossing folder, a sentiment die from Spellbinders Simply Perfect Mix & Match set,  and an Essential Arches die and A2 Piercing Plate from Ellen Hutson LLC.  I love the look of all these elements combined.  

Since I already had several additional hummingbird die cut pieces, I used them to create a second card with a more muted palette.

This one will be for a friend who is recovering from some medical issues. 

The background on this one was ink blended with Distress ink in Crushed Olive, then blended over with some white pigment ink to soften the color.

Stay Cool Popsicles - Color Throwdown #701

I needed a card for a sweet teenage girl so I thought these colors would work very well with the Stay Cool stamp set and dies from Ellen Hutson LLC. Who doesn't love popsicles in the hot summertime?!

Seasonal Sprig in Gold - Color Throwdown #673

Hey y'all!  It's time for a new Color Throwdown challenge and I'm hosting this week.  It's also the last challenge of this year.  We will be  taking a couple of weeks off for the holidays.

Our colors this week are Red, Pink, and Mint Green.

Since these are perfect Christmas colors, I actually DID make a Christmas card!  Surprise!

~

~

The Seasonal Sprig from Taylored Expressions was heat embossed in gold and water colored using Distress inks.  I splattered the panel with the same ink colors, and outlined the panel, adding a couple of extra lines on the right, with a gold gel pen.

And since I'm SO behind on making my Christmas cards this year, I also made a simple version that is currently being mass-produced.  I hope to have them in the mail in the next day or two!

Live in the Sunshine

Hello, friends.  I know I don't usually post on days other than Wednesday, but I've made a few birthday cards lately and would like to share them with you.

Today's card is one for a dear friend who loves the beach/ocean/seashore as much as I do!  So a mermaid-esque card seems appropriate!

And I just love the colors so I know she will too!

I used the Scrapbook.com Scallop stencil and some of the Catherine Pooler Life of the Party mini ink set, along with my Taylored Expressions Blender brushes to create the mermaid look.  The sentiment is from the Technique Tuesday Bring on the Sun stamp set.

So that's my birthday card of the day!  I'll have another for you tomorrow and one on Saturday too!

Cable Knit Birthday - Color Throwdown 627

Happy Wednesday, y'all!!

It's that time again....for a brand new color palette to play with at the Color Throwdown...Pale Pink, Blue, and Gray.

What a great combo!

I've been wanting to play with my Taylored Expressions Slim Cable Knit stencil and I thought the pink (applied with TE Blender Brushes) would look great!  I didn't make a slimline card though, and I think it works just great on a regular size card.

~

~

The die cuts are from the Sizzix Geometric winter frame die set and the sentiment is from the Power Poppy Strong & Beautiful retired stamp set.  All together they make a cozy winter time birthday card!

Not a Halloween card, which is what you would expect with the color combo, but it definitely works for Fall/Autumn.  I used the Blessed Blooms stamps and dies from The Greetery.  I also used Simon Says Stamp Floating Leaves stencil for the background, blended in ombre shades of orange using Taylored Expressions Blender Brushes and distress inks.

Hello and happy Wednesday!

For this week's Color Throwdown challenge we have this great generic color combo:  Red, White, Green, and Black.

For today's card I needed a birthday card (we have a LOT of July birthdays in my family) and I wanted it to be bold and bright like these colors.  What better way to do that than to use big bold balloons!  So here is my card:

I love these one-liners Happy dies from PTI but have not used them in a long time.  Very bold and graphic! I used my Taylored Expressions Blender Brushes and Distress inks to give the Simon Says Stamp Balloon die cuts the bright colors.
