Happy Wednesday!  It's time for another great Color Throwdown challenge, y'all!  Amy Rohl is our hostess and her colors and inspiration photo are awesome!

Our generic colors of the week are Lime Green, Green, Black, and White.

I just loved the watercolor look of the shamrock and went with that for a birthday card for my pastor.

~

~

This was a perfect opportunity for me to use the Mega Greetings 4 stamp set and coordinating die from Altenew again.  This was so simple, but it really has a big visual impact!

You Totally Rock - Color Throwdown #583

Happy Wednesday!  It's my turn to host the Color Throwdown challenge this week and I've chosen some soft spring colors for us to play with: Pink, Orange, and Blue.

I went with the hearts theme in the inspiration photo to create a birthday card for a dear friend, using one of the images from the Power Poppy Va-Va-Valentines digital stamp set.

Fabulous Day - Color Throwdown #545

Happy Wednesday, everyone! It's time for another new Color Throwdown challenge.

Our generic colors are Raspberry, Lavender, Green, and Kraft.

For today's card, I used one of the new Spring Digital Blitz images from Power Poppy.  It's called Lavender Sprigs.

~

~

I printed the no-line version of the image and colored it with my Copic markers, then added some shading with Prismacolor pencils.

Sunny Vibes Tulip - Color Throwdown #533

Happy Wednesday, people!  I hope wherever you are it’s warm and sunny.  There’s a little bit of a chill here in the South and I am NOT a fan!

Moving right along, it’s time for a new Color Throwdown challenge and I’m hosting this week!  The generic colors I chose are Purple, Lavender, Gray, and Kraft.

Power Poppy recently released a couple of sets of new digital images.  They are based on the clear set Natural Beauties, and they are SO pretty.  I chose to use the tulip image from the Spring Border One set.  It was a little bit of a challenge with the limited color palette, but I really liked how it turned out.

~

~

The tulips were printed on Bristol smooth watercolor paper and water colored with my Zig Clean Color pens.  Then I die cut the image, covered it with a scrap of paper, and airbrushed around the edges with the die still on.

Clover & Pansies - a new Power Poppy digital stamp

~

It’s time for this month’s brand new Power Poppy digital image release – Clover & Pansies.  And it’s beautiful!

~

~

This is what Marcy says about this new image:

The third installment of our Café au Last bowl bouquets overflows with spring favorites. Four-leaf Clovers and their pom-pom-like flowers, Pansies in a variety of sizes and patterns, and sprigs of Forget-Me-Nots make for a rich look. Color your clovers in shades of green for St. Patrick's Day, or go for the more unique dark purples and pinks with contrasting stripes. The symbolism of the botanicals in this bouquet convey good luck, love and remembrance.

I wanted to keep the image large to use it for 2 separate cards.  I printed it on x-Press It paper, then colored it up using my Copic markers.

~

~

In order to use the image for 2 cards, I cut it right down the middle.  Gulp!  Believe me, that was hard to do after I’d spent so much time coloring it!  This is how the cards turned out:

The cut, colored image panels are popped up on foam mounting tape.

This new image is now available at the Power Poppy store and you can go to the Power Poppy blog to see the list of designers posting a creation using this awesome new image!

Thinking of You - Color Throwdown #480

Hello, everyone!  It’s time for a brand new Color Throwdown challenge!  This week our lovely teammate Wanda has a beautiful combo of Spring colors for us to play with: Lilac, Green, Gray, and White.

~

~

Gotta love beautiful flowers when it seems like winter’s been here forever!

Sadly I needed a few sympathy cards this week, so I used our color palette to create one of them.

~

~

I used Distress inks Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron to create the watercolor background.  Then I stamped the Layered Doilies image from Technique Junkies in SU Orchid Opulence.  (I still LOVE that color!)  The sentiment and heart are from the SSS Thoughtful Messages stamp set and are stamped in Versafine Smokey Gray.

Created to Create - A new Power Poppy digital!

~

HELLO!!! 

Marcella Hawley is releasing 2 new digital images today at Power Poppy!!!  One is a brand new image called Created to Create and it’s over the top fun and inspiring!!

~

~

The other is a remix of Juicy Strawberries!  Soooo yummy!!!

~

~

Today I’m showing you what I did with Created to Create.

~

~

This image is too wonderful to get too fancy, so I just printed it card-size onto my Copic X-Press It paper and colored it with my Copic markers.  I used my Stitched Rectangle dies to impress the stitching around the edges and then lined the side edges with my YR16 marker.  It’s mounted on a Coastal Cabana card base and I added a length of Twinery twine to it.  Such fun and so colorful!!

Tulips in Hobnail Pitcher - a new Power Poppy digital image

~

Since it’s the 25th of the month, that means that Power Poppy is adding another beautiful digital image to its Instant Garden Collection.  And this one is truly like a breath of fresh spring air!  Introducing  Tulips in Hobnail Pitcher.

~

~

Isn’t this a beauty?  Marcy (Marcella Hawley) says:

“We have three images in this set. The image is a bouquet of freshly gathered tulips that captures laid-back country living, complete with a hobnail-trimmed milk pitcher. Two birthday sentiments round out this set that is just begging to be colored up this spring.”

And this is how I colored up my image:

I simply adore coloring Marcy’s images and this one is really fabulous!

For this one I used my Kuretake Zig Clean Color pens on watercolor paper.  If you look closely you can see that I let my colors bleed out of the lines for a little more ethereal look.

Spring Meadow Bouquet - a new digi from Power Poppy

~

Happy 15th, friends!  You know that means it’s time for a brand new digital stamp set from the incomparable Marcella Hawley from Power Poppy.  This one is really incredible!

~

~

Marcy has given us a beautiful Spring Meadow Bouquet composed of:

     Bleeding Hearts (Dicentra spectabilis)
     Checkered Lily (Fritillaria meleagris)
     Summer Snowflake (Leucojum aestivum)
     Lilac (Syringa vulgaris)

I had so much fun coloring this with my Copic markers.

The card itself is very simple.  I die cut part of the image with my Stitched Rectangle dies, applied a thin strip of washi tape, and after applying a similar strip of tape to the card base, popped up the image layer with foam mounting tape.  I die cut the Happy 3 times, glued them together, then outlined the top layer with a white gel pen.

You will LOVE playing with this beautiful Spring bouquet!  You can find it at the Power Poppy website, just in time for Easter and for Mother’s Day!
