Scenic Route - Color Throwdown #715

Happy Wednesday again!  Today is the day for a brand new Color Throwdown challenge!  Our color palette this week is all about Fall - Orange, Green, and White.

I went with the Fall theme and pulled out an older Rubbernecker die set for my card.  I don't believe this set is available any more but I've linked a newer set below in the linky list that is even better!!  I've paired it with a beautiful Sizzix 3D Botanical embossed background for added texture.

Birthday Rainbow - Color Throwdown #693

Hi there, y'all!  I'm hosting this week's Color Throwdown challenge and I'm excited to share my card with you today.  Here are the colors I've chosen - Aqua, Lime Green, and Navy.

I'm excited to show you my card because for the first time in a long time I made a mixed media card, using both acrylic paints and dye ink.

~

~

It was really fairly simple, and so much fun! 

First I stenciled the rainbow using a screenprint stencil from Hobby Lobby with the acrylic paints and Distress ink (links in supply list at the bottom of this post).

~

~

Next I die cut the Bold Text #1 sentiment from 3 different colors of cardstock and layered them.

~

~

After separating the text die cuts and attaching them to the front and inside of the card, I added star dust stickles to them.

~

~

 

~

Make a Wish - Color Throwdown #690

Hi, y'all!  It's time for our latest and greatest Color Throwdown challenge.  This week our colors are Navy, Mustard, and Gray.

I'm not going to lie, I struggled with this one.  I usually am more comfortable with bright colors or soft beachy colors, so these darker colors threw me for a loop.  After much contemplation, I came up with using an A Colorful Life Coiled stencil as a background for a Sizzix/Tim Holtz Bold Text #1 sentiment.

~

~

I'm satisfied with how it turned out, especially if you back way up and focus on the spiraling effect of the Coiled Stencil.

Best Day Ever - Color Throwdown #687

Happy Wednesday, y'all!

Our new Color Throwdown challenge today features this color combo: Lime Green, Aqua, Gold.

I love the colored dots in the inspiration photo and I wanted to use them, but then I went in a completely different direction with alcohol inks! 

~

~

I LOVE the Bold Text #1 die set from Tim Holtz and want to use it on everything!  It worked out great for an anniversary card I needed!

I used Brea Reese alcohol inks, and made the full panel into a shaker with tiny lime, aqua, and gold stars.  Easy Peasy!

Happy Hump Day and happy new Color Throwdown challenge day!  I'm your hostess this week and I've chosen these colors for us to play with: Gray, Pink, and Lime Green.

I love that beautiful bird!!  And his colors!

A couple of weeks ago a crafty friend and I traveled to a SSAT show in Columbia, SC, and had a great time shopping!  One of the purchases I knew I would make before I even left my house was the new Tim Holtz Sizzix Gladys, Colorize dies.  I went straight to it!  And these colors just "happen" to be right to show off my new girl.

She's a beauty, for sure!  I mounted her over a water colored panel and used the Tim Holtz Crazy Talk stamp set for my sentiment.

Cable Knit Birthday - Color Throwdown 627

It's that time again....for a brand new color palette to play with at the Color Throwdown...Pale Pink, Blue, and Gray.

What a great combo!

I've been wanting to play with my Taylored Expressions Slim Cable Knit stencil and I thought the pink (applied with TE Blender Brushes) would look great!  I didn't make a slimline card though, and I think it works just great on a regular size card.

~

~

The die cuts are from the Sizzix Geometric winter frame die set and the sentiment is from the Power Poppy Strong & Beautiful retired stamp set.  All together they make a cozy winter time birthday card!

With Sympathy - Color Throwdown 625

Hey, everyone!  Are you ready for another beautiful color combo from The Color Throwdown challenge?  Our newest DT member Susie is our hostess this week and the generic colors she's chosen are Blue, Pink, and Green!

~

~

I needed another sympathy card but didn't want it to be dark and somber, so I decided to use these bright colors to send a little bit of  love and cheer along with the heartfelt sympathy.

~

~

The floral dies are from Altenew, the geometric heart is from Sizzix, and the heat-embossed sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.  (All links are in the supply list at the bottom of the post.)

I'm entering this card into The Flower Challenge #52 - Use embossing heat or dry.  My sentiment is heat embossed.
