Missing You - Color Throwdown #632

Hi and happy Wednesday to you!!  Today our Color Throwdown challenge is brought to you by Barbara, and the beautiful springtime generic colors are Yellow, Peach, Green, and White.

I thought my Altenew Floral Doodles dies would be a perfect set to use with some watercolors to replicate the beautiful burst of florals.

~

~

I used my Taylored Expressions Blending Brushes to color the die cuts. For the water color background, I smooshed my distress ink pads onto my craft sheet, spritzed with water, and dabbed up the colors onto my water color paper, drying between dabs.

Forever in Our Hearts - Color Throwdown #501

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  Our latest Color Throwdown challenge is brought to you by our hostess, Amy Rysavy.  This great combo consists of Yellow, Gray, Kraft, and White.

Sadly, I needed a sympathy card this week, so I used the Layered Poppy stamp from Rubbernecker and the great sentiment from Reverse Confetti to make a simple watercolor card.

~

~

This is a tall card, barely fitting into a letter size envelope.  I water colored with Distress inks and added some black enamel to the flower centers and some twine.

Being Unique - Color Throwdown #448

Happy Wednesday, everybody!

We have a super fun color combo for you today at the Color Throwdown.   Lynn  is our hostess and the generic colors are Purple, Mint Green, Hot Pink, and Teal.

I needed a fun birthday card for a good friend and decided to use the retired (?) Fabulous Flamingo from Reverse Confetti because I love flamingoes, and because I adore the sentiments in this set.

~

~

I had fun playing some more with the Distress Oxide inks for this background. I used Broken China and Cracked Pistachio and blended it over the white cardstock. Then I misted water onto the raised inside of the Tide embossing folder, placed my blended cardstock into it (blended side of the paper to the misted side of the folder), and ran it through my Big Shot. The water lifted the pattern right off of the cardstock! I also sprinkled some more water onto the layer to get the droplet look.

Then I used the same folder to dry emboss the pink cardstock, and I stamped the awesome sentiment onto the blended cardstock. The flamingo, a few sequins, and a piece of twine completed the card.

Ruffled Wild Orchids Power Poppy release - Color Throwdown #427

Hello and happy Wednesday, y’all!

Today I’m sharing a card I made using a freshly-released beautiful digital image from Power Poppy called Ruffled Wild Orchids.

~

~

According to Marcella Hawley (the creative genius):

Known as the Queen of Orchids, Cattleyas put on quite a display with their showy ruffles and gorgeous rainbow hues. With an almost unlimited array of color combinations at your fingertips, you will have a great time being your own Orchid hybridizer, mixing and matching to your heart’s content!

I am in love!  To say that Orchids are one of my favorites is an understatement.   My Dad raised Orchids many, many moons ago and even hybridized a couple of his own.  One is named after me!  Imagine that!  What an honor!

The beautiful image was colored with my Copic markers and I highlighted the scripty Wildly with a BG13 marker.  The card based was embossed with the Reverse Confetti All Framed Up die plate.  I threw in a few sequins for some sparkle!

Fabulous Day - Color Throwdown #412

~

Hello, everyone!  I don’t know if you noticed or not but I took last week off from blogging.  My 2 sisters and I traveled to Pennsylvania for a beautiful family wedding.  We’ve never been on a trip with just the 3 of us!  It was fun and so wonderful to visit with family that we haven’t seen in 11 years!

But now it’s time for another fabulous edition of the Color Throwdown!  Barbara is our awesome hostess with a perfect color palette for us to play with - blue, green, bright pink and coral!

~

I love, love, love this combo!  When I saw the coral and pink combination I knew I wanted to use my Reverse Confetti Fabulous Flamingo set!  So here is what I came up with:

The “grass” at her feet is actually one of the tops of the pineapple  from the RC Pineapples A Plenty.  I also used the RC All Framed Up to highlight the flamingo and the sentiment together.

It's a Jungle - Color Throwdown #407

~

Happy Wednesday to you all!  Are you ready for the latest Color Throwdown challenge?  The oh-so-talented Lori is our hostess and I just adore the fresh and bright color combo she chose:  Lime green, Teal, and Yellow!

~

~

I couldn’t wait to play with my new Tropics stamp set from PTI and thought these colors would work so well with it!  This also seemed like a perfect combo to use for another male birthday card!

~

~

I simply stamped the leaves randomly in several Distress ink colors around the edges.  Then I stamped the sentiment in black and added a black frame die cut with the awesome new All Framed Up Confetti Cuts from Reverse Confetti.  I just had to add three little sequins down in the bottom right corner for a little oomph!

Enjoy Today! - Color Throwdown #406

~

Ok, peeps!  It’s time for the latest edition of the Color Throwdown challenge!  Are you as ready as I am?

Lisa is our super-duper, talented hostess and here are the colors she’s chosen: Orange, Green, Pale Pink and White.

What a wonderful combo!

I pulled out my new-to-me Pineapples A Plenty from Reverse Confetti and created  a birthday card for a male friend of mine.  And yes, I used a touch of pale pink on a card for a male!

~

~

I stamped a border of the pineapple top using PTI Classic Kraft ink and dotting my wet paintbrush on the stamp before pressing it to the paper.  I die cut the pineapple and its top and then stamped them using Distress inks, also wetting them before stamping.  Of course then I needed to go back over the “Enjoy Today” with my white gel pen, but that was easy peasy.

There was a little too much white space for me so I took a very old linen background stamp from SU and stamped it in the kraft ink.  Then I popped up my pineapple on foam mounting tape and tied on some kraft colored twine.  I just adore that the sentiment is “built in”!!!

New Power Poppy digital set - Pure Prairie Bouquet

Hey, y’all!  It’s finally the 15th of the month and that means a brand new digital stamp set from the genius of Marcella Hawley at Power Poppy.  And this one is absolutely awesome!  Take a peek:

And Marcy was kind enough to also give us a KEY to the flowers included in this bouquet.  Just in case you’re a purist.

Evidently, I’m not!  Ha!  I colored the flowers with whatever color that moved me.  I was particularly inspired by a photograph that Marcy posted on Instagram about a month ago.  Such beautiful, vibrant colors!

Happy Bird-Day - Color Throwdown #389

Hello!!!!

It’s Wednesday again and time for a new Color Throwdown!

Vickie is our hostess this week and her choice of colors is outstanding!  I love how vibrant they are together!  And those little shoes are so adorable!

~

~

I chose to do a sponged background of Picked Raspberry and Carved Pumpkin inks and then I spritzed it liberally with some water.  I also sponged and spritzed another scrap with Twisted Citron and that’s what I die cut the border with.  My cute little bird was stamped on watercolor paper with Antique Linen ink and colored with my Kuretake Zig Clean Color pens.

This card is going to a very special young lady for her 7th birthday this weekend!

Hello, hello!

It’s Monday again!  And the 3rd Monday of the month at that, so that means we have an inspiration photo for you at The Challenge.

I’m totally in love with this one!

The horizontal stripes, the beautiful bright colors, and the touches of gold all inspired me to create this baby shower card:

The recipient is having a little girl and her theme is flamingos so my Reverse Confetti Fabulous Flamingo was a perfect match for these colors and this theme!  I really love how it turned out!
