You're So Cool - Color Throwdown #596

Hello, and happy Wednesday!!  It's time for a brand new Color Throwdown challenge!  Our generic colors this week are Red, Orange, and Green.

The fruit in the inspiration photo was a real influence on my decision to use a generic fruit stamp set that I have (purchased at Hobby Lobby a LONG time ago.)  Then I saw a tv commercial for AHA Sparkling water and that was what I based my card design on.

~

~

After I stamped all the fruit using Distress inks, I made masks for them, then airbrushed each section with Copic markers and my Copic airbrush system.  It was a tedious process, but also fun!  The great little sentiment is from a Lil' Inker Designs set called Rainbow Cloud Sentiments.

Seriously - Color Throwdown #493

~

Hey, y’all!

It’s time for a new Color Throwdown challenge and this week I’m the hostess!

I’ve chosen some fresh spring/summer colors for us to play with: Aqua, Lime, and White!

~

~

Now I know you probably think I made a beachy card with these colors (Right, Nise??), but I didn’t!  I used the colors for the sky and grass for a sweet little smiling bunny.

~

~

This bunny is from the Simon Says Stamp Best Friends stamp set and matching dies.  The Seriously die and Stitched Hearts die are from Lil’ Inker Designs.  The Distress Oxide inks that I used for the background are Twisted Citron and Peacock Feathers.

Created to Create - A new Power Poppy digital!

HELLO!!! 

Marcella Hawley is releasing 2 new digital images today at Power Poppy!!!  One is a brand new image called Created to Create and it’s over the top fun and inspiring!!

~

~

The other is a remix of Juicy Strawberries!  Soooo yummy!!!

~

~

Today I’m showing you what I did with Created to Create.

~

~

This image is too wonderful to get too fancy, so I just printed it card-size onto my Copic X-Press It paper and colored it with my Copic markers.  I used my Stitched Rectangle dies to impress the stitching around the edges and then lined the side edges with my YR16 marker.  It’s mounted on a Coastal Cabana card base and I added a length of Twinery twine to it.  Such fun and so colorful!!

The Challenge #70 - Masculine Fan

~

Hello, peeps!  My post title is a little misleading.  This is not about a fan that's masculine or a fan of the masculine, it’s about a masculine challenge for which I'm using a fan image.  Is that clear as mud?  Ha, ha!

Here’s our Masculine inspiration photo for The Challenge this week.

See?  It’s really an airplane prop, but my fan has blades too.  Surely that counts!

~

It’s a simple card, with a great sentiment, that will work for any guy!!

Transparent Balloons - Color Throwdown #386

~

Hello, friends! 

It’s time for another Color Throwdown and the colors this week, chosen by Lisa,  are especially fun!

~

~

I wanted to try something a little different and decided to use acetate to die cut some balloons for a friend’s birthday card.

~

~

I used my Copic markers to color the back of the die cut SSS balloons.  This caused a little streaking, so I think next time I will try  Copic refills and a paint brush.  The background was created on watercolor paper using Distress inks.  The sentiment is from the WPlus9 Strictly Sentiments set.  I added some sequins and tied some white cotton thread to the balloons to call the card done!

Spring Meadow Bouquet - a new digi from Power Poppy

~

Happy 15th, friends!  You know that means it’s time for a brand new digital stamp set from the incomparable Marcella Hawley from Power Poppy.  This one is really incredible!

~

~

Marcy has given us a beautiful Spring Meadow Bouquet composed of:

     Bleeding Hearts (Dicentra spectabilis)
     Checkered Lily (Fritillaria meleagris)
     Summer Snowflake (Leucojum aestivum)
     Lilac (Syringa vulgaris)

I had so much fun coloring this with my Copic markers.

The card itself is very simple.  I die cut part of the image with my Stitched Rectangle dies, applied a thin strip of washi tape, and after applying a similar strip of tape to the card base, popped up the image layer with foam mounting tape.  I die cut the Happy 3 times, glued them together, then outlined the top layer with a white gel pen.

You will LOVE playing with this beautiful Spring bouquet!  You can find it at the Power Poppy website, just in time for Easter and for Mother’s Day!

Hello, My Friend - Color Throwdown #383

~

Hello, everyone!  I'm thrilled to be your Color Throwdown hostess this week!

I was beginning to tire of all the red and pink and hearts so I decided to introduce a vibrant summer-inspired color palette for this week:  orange, yellow, green and white.  I know we haven’t even reached Spring yet, but I’m all for jumping ahead to consistently warm weather, beaches and flip-flops!

~

~

I had to try out my new Boddington Cottage die this week.  It really makes for a simple card if you don’t do any coloring!  Just some spray misting through a stencil, die cutting, and paper piecing!  Awesome!

~

~

Remember we’re using generic colors (orange, yellow, green, and white) and you can add whatever other neutrals you choose.  It’s all about having fun, right?

I'm also entering my card into the Less is More challenge - Citrus (colors).

The Challenge #63 Sketch - Oh My Stars!

Hello friends!

It’s time for a sketch from The Challenge!  I love sketches!  And this one was so much fun!

Isn’t it great? 

I went with a water colored and die cut layer, over a sparkly glitter paper layer.

~

~

I taped my stencil down over my watercolor paper and painted through it with my Peerless watercolors.  The dies and the fun sentiment are from Lil’ Inker Designs.

~

~

Wonderful You - The Challenge #61

~

Welcome to the 3rd week of The Challenge for this month.  That means we have a photo inspiration and here it is:

I really love that rustic looking kitchen.  I went with the look of old wood and the pinks and greens of the appliances, floral arrangements and cake stands.  Here’s my card:

~

~

I used my Bold Blooms Matching dies and my Bold Blossoms dies from Essentials by Ellen for the flowers and leaves, and I trimmed off a few hearts that I had left over from another card that had been die cut with my Stacked Hearts die.  The sentiment is from the Fancy Thanks set, also from Essentials by Ellen.  I added some washi tape and a little Star Dust Stickles to the heart in the center of the flower.

The Challenge #60 (Colors) and a tribute to Adele

Hey, guys!

You may have noticed that the last The Challenge was a 2-weeker, but now we’re back with a new challenge.  This week it’s a color combo for you to play with: Pink, Red, Gray, and White

Such a great color combo! 

This is not really a tribute to Adele, but I can’t help but hear her fabulous new song Hello every time I look at this card!

~

~

Now the song is in your head too, right??

The card is very simple and graphic with no coloring at all.  Oh, the horror!  LOL!  It’s all die cut layers and I added a few pink enamel dots for interest and it was done!
