Hey Boo - Color Throwdown #716

Happy Halloween!  Almost!  I'm celebrating today with the cards I created for my grandkids for this week's Color Throwdown challenge.  Our color combo is Purple, Blush, and Sage Green.  Perfect colors for Halloween!

So I recently purchased the Hey Boo die set from Ellen Hutson LLC specifically for this year's cards.  And of course the all around perfect bear from the All Inside stamp set had to be the star!  Well, at least his ghost did!

~

~

There was a lot of detailed work involved in creating these cards, but it sure was fun!  The bear was stamped on vellum, then that was flipped to the back side so that the outline was more faded (ghost-like).  The heart he's holding actually hides the foam mounting tape that pops him up so he kind of looks like he's floating in the air.  The sentiment was pieced using each of the challenge colors and it was popped up too.

Each one of the 4 cards a a bit different.

Chill Vibes - Color Throwdown #712

Hello, all!  This week's Color Throwdown challenge is to use these colors:   Blue, Orange, Kraft, and Cream.

~

~

I needed a birthday card for a pretty cool young man and I thought these colors would work well.

~

~

I did a bit of ink blending on the background with Distress inks, then used the SSS Layered Confetti stencils for a Bokeh effect, also using Distress inks and a bit of Hero Arts Unicorn white pigment ink.

~

~

I used the Essentials by Ellen Stay Cool stamp set for the "sand" and "waves" effect as well as for the sentiment.  There is also a bit of Ranger Glossy Accents on some of the waves.

Botanicals - Color Throwdown #711

Happy Wednesday!  Our Color Throwdown challenge this week features some beautiful deep color hues - Turquoise, Yellow, Brown, and Green.

I love the contrast of the bright yellow and the deep teal.  

Here's my card:

For my background I used a TCW stencil called Mini Ferns, blending green ink on the teal paper.  The flower and leaves are from a Sizzix die set called Corsage dies. The arch is from the Ellen Hutson Essential Arches die set, and the sentiment is from the Papertrey Ink Tropics set.

Hummingbird Hugs - Color Throwdown #705

~

Hey, guys!  It's time for another Color Throwdown challenge and this week our colors are Purple, Red, and Green.

~

~

Purple is a very general color label, and I chose to use a darker hue than the one in the photo for my card this week.

~

~ 

This birthday card is for a dear friend who LOVES purple!  And I think she'll love the hummingbird too! 

I used the new Layered Hummingbird die from Simon Says Stamp , along with a Sizzix Tropical Leaves 3D embossing folder, a sentiment die from Spellbinders Simply Perfect Mix & Match set,  and an Essential Arches die and A2 Piercing Plate from Ellen Hutson LLC.  I love the look of all these elements combined.  

Since I already had several additional hummingbird die cut pieces, I used them to create a second card with a more muted palette.

This one will be for a friend who is recovering from some medical issues. 

The background on this one was ink blended with Distress ink in Crushed Olive, then blended over with some white pigment ink to soften the color.

Hip Hip Hooray - Color Throwdown #704

Happy Wednesday!  It's time for a new Color Throwdown challenge and our colors this week are Brown, Green, Black, and White.

I was unsure of what to do with this darker combo, but then realized that I could use lighter hues and that I had the Altenew Monsteras and Quotes stamps, dies, and stencils that I had wanted to use.  So here is my tropical themed birthday card. The sentiment is from the Essentials by Ellen It's All Good stamp set.

I really like how it turned out and it was pretty easy to make!  Double win!

Beautiful Heart - Color Throwdown #703

Hello, everyone!  This week I'm hosting the Color Throwdown challenge and I'm excited to show you our colors and my card(s)!  Here is the color combo I've chosen: Powder Blue, Cream, and Kraft.

~

~

My card for this challenge was based on these colors of course, but it, as well as another card I'll show you, were both also based on the most fabulous birthday card I received this month.  I'll show you that later as well.

For my CTD card I chose a beachy theme...surprise!!  

~

~

It has lots of shimmer in real life.  Maybe you can catch some of it in this photo...

~

~

I used a beautiful sentiment from the Picket Fence Fancy Daily Sentiments set.  The waves & sand lines were ink blended using die cut scraps from Simon Says Stamp Stitched Slopes & Hills.  I used Star Dust Stickles for the foam between the layers.

My next card does not adhere to the CTD challenge but it was also a beach themed birthday card made using Ellen Hutson's Everthing's Beachy stamps and dies.

I wanted a little more definition for the foam of the waves here so I used Stickles Moon Dust Gel Glitter and some Liquid Pearls in white opal.  I've been obsessed with this look since I took a resin pouring class recently.

~

~

But now for the star of the show, folks!  My sweet friend Nise sent me the most beautiful hand made card for my birthday.  She even did the gorgeous calligraphy in a shimmery ink!  It's my most favorite birthday card ever!

~

~

Be Awesome Today - Color Throwdown #700

Hello!  Can you believe that we have arrived at hosting our 700th Color Throwdown challenge??!!  Pretty awesome, huh?  What's even harder to believe is that I've been on the team for that long!!!  Y'all must be really tired of me by now!!! (I hope not!)

Here are the colors for this week:  Yellow, Orange, Kraft, and Brown.

I really do love this combo even if I had to think long and hard about how to use it!  Finally I came up with an idea using the Sizzix Tim Holtz Funky Cactus dies, along with the Ellen Hutson A2 Piercing Plate and Simon Says Stamp Stitched Slopes and Hills.  Everything came together nicely when I topped it off with the Tim Holtz Small Talk Sticker.  A birthday card for the best son-in-law ever because he's awesome every day!

I'm so glad he loved it too!

Hello There Sunshine - Color Throwdown #698

Hello there, Sunshine!  That's my theme today for the Color Throwdown challenge.  The colors this week are fabulous: Red, Pink, Yellow, and Green!

Do you happen to remember my card from last week?  Well, I used the negative of the water colored pink sentiment die cut for my main background this week.

~

~

I added some yellow textured cardstock behind the HELLO, topping the "O" with a popped up circle and surrounding it with gold embossed sunshine rays.  I also added the stamped word SUNSHINE beneath the cut out sentiment.  The die cut girl in her cute convertible was colored with Copics and popped up on the green grassy slope.  Two cards from one water colored panel! Hey, y'all!

It's time for another great Color Throwdown challenge!  This week our colors are Black, Red, Aqua, and Yellow.

This is such a great combo, but I waited until the last minute to get a card done so it's a simple one, folks!

~

I actually wanted to make a CAS card because I was so totally impressed by Hannelie's perfect example HERE.

I did mine on watercolor paper to soften the colors and make them appear more water-like.  I used the Organic Elements and Stay Cool stamp sets from Ellen Hutson LLC.

Big Balloons - Color Throwdown #689

Happy Wednesday, y'all!

It's time for our latest Color Throwdown challenge and this week our colors are Orange, Pink, and Green.  Such a happy combo!

I wanted to go with a simple design this week and used my new-to-me MFT Big Balloon stencil and Essentials by Ellen Big Scripty Happy Birthday die for a very happy birthday card!

I die cut the stenciled top panel with my SSS Wonky Rectangle die, drew on the balloon strings, added a few sequins/jewels and called it done!
