You're So Cool! - Color Throwdown #476

Hey there!  Are you ready for a new Color Throwdown challenge?  I know I am!

This week our hostess is the super talented Lisa and she’s chosen a cool combo for us to play with – Light Blue, Kraft, and White.

I’m excited that I got to play with my new Best Friends stamp set from Simon Says Stamp!  So many cute animals!  I can’t wait to make Valentines for the grandkids with these!

But today I used the adorable hedgehog to make a birthday card for my adult nephew.  He actually has a hedgehog – named Kirk, as in “James T.”!

I kept it simple since it’s for a young man.  The hedgehog and ground & background are watercolored so I’m entering this into the SSS Flickr Challenge #88 – Water Coloring.

Power Poppy - Rosé All Day

~

Hey, y’all!  Things are changing a little at Power Poppy this year.  Each month there will be a “Color Story”.

January's is "Rosé All Day" — featuring flowers that are naturally reds, pinks, and whites.

~

~

The bouquet features Roses, Redbud branches (Cercis canadensis), Cyclamen hederifolium, a Fern frond (for contrast) along with "ivy-leaved Cyclamen" leaves - they are quite dramatic.  There are also a few paint brushes and a colored pencil, along with a ladybug and bumblebees. 

Each month we'll introduce a new Color Story, whether it's monochromatic or playing with various shades, that will help folks learn more about working with values of the same color.   And, as Marcy likes to say, they can always go rogue and color the thing however they see fit!

Rosé All Day will be available Jan 15th in the Power Poppy Shop.  And January 15th begins a new edition of Kathy Racoosin’s The Daily Marker 30 Day challenge.  So go grab this gorgeous image and color it up!

I haven’t had a chance to make it into a card yet.  For now I’ll just keep it on my desktop and think about how it makes me happy!!

Happy Hump Day, y’all!!

It’s time for the latest edition of the Color Throwdown and this week Lori has some fun colors for us!

~

~

Red, pink, gray, and light blue.  Perfect for Valentines Day, don’t you think?

I used my new Stacked Hearts die from Simon Says Stamp to top off my water colored light blue background. 

~

~

I die cut the hearts in white, pink, and red and used some of each color with the white outline.  There are a couple of strips of washi tape down the side of the panel and the adorable sentiment from the Love You So set from the Essentials by Ellen line finishes it off.

I realize there’s just a tiny bit of coloring but it still counts, right?

I'm also entering my card into the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge to ADD HEARTS.

Dancing Pumpkin Heads

Um, yes, you read that right!  At A Day For Daisies we’re showcasing the Pumpkin Heads!  They are different and they are cute!

Today I’m using Dancing Pumpkin Head #1.

~

~

I printed her on Mixed Media paper and water colored her with my  Kuretake Zig Clean Color brushes.  I have an illness….I can’t put these things down.  They are such a joy to use!

For the striped panel, I simply cut varied widths of 3 different colors of cardstock and adhered them diagonally to a piece of thin cardstock.  Then I cut the entire piece using my Stitched Rectangles die.

Little Witch Swing - ADFD Oct Club Kit Take 2

Are you ready for some more Halloween cuteness?

The ADFD Club Kit is loaded with adorable little witches to color up for someone special on your Halloween card list.  All the granddaughters will be getting one of these from me!  You can see all the images at the A Day For Daisies shop or on the ADFD blog. 

Today I’m using Little Witch Swing.  Check out that sweet little kitten swinging along with her too!

She’s printed on Mixed Media paper and watercolored with my Kuretake Real Brush Clean Color pens.  The sparkly bat is a sticker.  The latest challenge at the ADFD blog is to ADD BLACK LACE.  I used a Lace Border die cut.

Little Witch Waiting

Witching season will soon be upon us.   And this little cutie is waiting.  Waiting until it’s her turn to be darling and just a little spooky!

October is here!

It's October 1st so that means it's Day 1 of the latest 30 day coloring challenge from Kathy at The Daily Marker!  I'm so excited!  I LOVE to color!

~

~

To start off the month I've created a simple card using the MFT Polynesian Paradise Chameleon again!  He's just so darn cute!

~

~

This time I stamped him in SU Slate ink onto watercolor paper and used my Peerless watercolors to paint him.  I used black enamel accents again for his eye.

The background was created using my Mini Ferns stencil and some Twisted Citron ink.  The ombre card base is actually from a box of preprinted cards I picked up on sale at Michael's a couple of months ago.

The sentiment is from the WPlus 9 Strictly Sentiments 5 set.

I probably won't be able to post something on the blog every day this month, but I'll try to at least upload a photo to Instagram daily.  Follow me!
