Let's Celebrate - Color Throwdown 626

Hello and happy Wednesday!  Are you ready for the newest Color Throwdown challenge?  Our generic colors this week are Plum, Cream, and Black. Yummy!

~

~

I wanted to use some new Altenew products that I had just treated myself to.  The Floral Doodles and the Linear Crossroads dies are fantastic and so much fun! (Links are at the end of the post.)

The florals are water colored and the background is splattered.  The sentiment strip is from Simon Says Stamp.

I'm entering this card into the CAS Mix Up card challenge - Splatters.  My mixed media element is the water colored florals.

Power Poppy Azaleas - and a big sale!

Hi, all!  I have a card to share using one of the Power Poppy stamp sets on sale starting today.  Just in case you didn't see the announcement yesterday, it's part of a huge sale starting at NOON today.

~

~

So here is my card using the Power Poppy Azalea stamp set:

~

~

So have you ever seen azaleas with those colors?  I had not until I visited a friend's house last weekend.  Around a large live oak tree are 5 azalea bushes; 4 white and 1 hot pink.  However over the years, the white flowers have evolved/hybrid into different patterns of white with pink striations and dots.  Some of the branches even have solid pink flowers among the white ones.  Just beautiful!

So of course, I had to try my hand at imitating nature!

Friday Fun Day with Power Poppy

Today I'm sharing a birthday card that I made using one of the digital images from the Power Poppy Big Ole Bow stamp set.

This one image is really all you need, but I did add a sentiment from the Tulips in Hobnail Pitcher stamp set.

Cupcake Kinda Day - Color Throwdown #534

~

Good Wednesday morning, everyone!  Today’s Color Throwdown challenge is brought to us by the oh-so-talented Amy Rohl.  Here are the generic colors:  Light Blue, Brown, and Orange.

~

I needed a masculine birthday card and the darling bear from the All Inside stamp set from the Essentials by Ellen stamp line is always a perfect choice for that.

~

~

I airbrushed a background and colored my bear with my Copic markers, then used a paper towel and some Colorless Blending Solution to make the bear “fluffy”!

This qualifies my card for the Addicted to CAS Challenge #154 – Fluffy:

Snowdrops & Tea Roses in the Power Poppy Instant Garden!

It’s the 15th of the month and that means there is a brand new Instant Garden digital release at Power Poppy Snowdrops and Tea Roses is just breath-taking!

~

Here is what Marcy has to say about this beautiful digital image:

The first in a series of bouquets nestled inside vintage French café au lait bowls. Festive enough for Christmas cards; cozy enough for a winter’s afternoon coloring session. This scene features a trio of hybrid tea roses arranged with crisp white snowdrops and variegated holly. Be open and adventurous with your coloring, ie: berries can be white/pink/light green if you are using red roses. Holly doesn't always have to be red. Remember, we are making the picture, nature is just one of our inspirations.

Digital download includes a no line version, and two merry sentiments.

A few tea rose varieties to use as inspirations to make this bouquet especially festive: 'Bewitched' (pale pink), 'Neil Diamond' (red-and-white streaked), 'Cinnamon Dolce' (dark red with pink streaks), 'Gemini' (creamy center with coral pink edges), 'World War II Memorial Rose' (light pink with tinges of red).

And this is my version of the Snowdrops and Tea Roses:

I printed the no-line version with the sentiment printed over it in black ink.  The image was colored with my Copic markers. And I added some enamel dots.

This card is also for the current Power Poppy Creative Confetti Challenge – Just Around the Corner.

Beach, Please - Color Throwdown #508

~

Hey, y’all!  It’s time for a brand new Color Throwdown challenge and our oh-so-talented hostess Lynn has a truly great color combo for us this week:  Purple, Green, Yellow, and Red.

~

~

I used the awesome Essentials by Ellen Leading Ladies – Beach Lady for my card.  I LOVE her!! 

~

~

I used Copic refills for my ocean background, specifically BV31, BV04, and BV000, and BG0000 for the sky.  I stamped the lady, her towel and the crab using my Misti in Memento tuxedo black ink and die cut them.  Then I colored them with my Copic markers and popped them up on foam mounting tape.

I’m entering this into the Ellen Hutson August Essentials challenge to use alcohol inks.

Keeping Christmas - August 2018

Well, hello!  It’s the 25th of the month again (I still can’t believe it’s August already!), so it’s time for a brand new Keeping Christmas blog hop!

It took me longer than I would have liked to get my card done this month, but I think if all the background pieces could be done ahead of time, the rest of the card would come together pretty quickly.  Another possibility for a production-line card.

Mermaid Love - Color Throwdown #475

~

Hello!

It’s time for a brand new Color Throwdown challenge and Jodi has chosen a fabulous new combo for us to play with: Navy, Aqua, and Pink.

~

~

I couldn’t wait to play with my new-to-me Mermaid Love set from Flora & Fauna.  I love the whimsical look of all the images and the fact that each item can fit into the glass bottle.  So many possibilities!

~

~

The background was made with the stencil from the Dylusions Quote Bubbles set.  I smooshed Chipped Sapphire Distress ink onto the stencil, spritzed it with water and pressed it onto the watercolor paper.  This background was the second generation, the first was a little darker and more clearly defined.  I thought this one looked a little more like a watery background.

The sea lion in the bottle and the mermaid were water colored with Distress inks and fussy cut. I used the fantastic SSS You Matter stamp set and matching dies for the sentiment.
