Birthday Balloons - Color Throwdown #382

Happy Hump Day!

It’s time for our latest Color Throwdown challenge and Barbara is our hostess this week!  Here are the beautiful colors she chose for us – Hot Pink, Green, Black and White!

I pulled out my PTI Scene It: Celebration and Birthday Cheer stamp sets and dies to make a birthday card for my stash.  I ALWAYS need more birthday cards!

~

~

I sponged some Evergreen Bough and Peacock Feathers Distress inks onto my watercolor paper, then spritzed it with some Cracked Pistachio Distress Spray Stain.  I die cut it with my Stitched Rectangle dies and attached it to my card base.

I die cut the balloons 3 times and layered them after stamping the center balloon in Melon Mambo ink and coating it with Glossy Accents.  The Birthday was cut twice and layered before adhering it to the card.

It's Your Birthday! - Color Throwdown #380

~

Yay!  It’s Hump Day, y’all!

That also means it’s time for a new Color Throwdown!  Vickie is our hostess this week and here are her color choices:

I have to admit I’m a little bit tired of red and pink right now, but I had so much fun making this card!  And it’s for my daughter’s birthday which was yesterday.

~

~

This adorable image is from Rubbernecker and it’s name is Patty & Duke.

I stamped it on watercolor paper and colored Patty and the cutie little puppy with my Kuretake Clean Color Pens.  Then I used a flat watercolor brush and a ruler to paint on the background stripes with some of my Gansai water colors. 

~

~

The sentiment from the Crazy Talk stamp set was stamped in Versamark onto some gray cardstock then heat embossed in white.

Berry It! - Color Throwdown #357

~

Hey, everybody!  It’s Wednesday again and time for another round of the Color Throwdown!  Joan is our hostess with the mostess and her inspiration photo and color palette are both beautiful!

~

~

Love that beautiful white cat!

The general colors are white, black, blue and pink.

For my card I used the brand new Power Poppy digi release of Berry It!  A gorgeous branch of ripe raspberries!  It has a fabulously punny sentiment with it and you can check it out on the Power Poppy blog or at the Power Poppy shop.

~

~

I printed my raspberries and colored them up using  several Copic markers from the RV family, with a little V09 and R35.  The leaves are colored in YGs and the background is done in B02 with color-spotting in BOOO and the Colorless Blender.  I also dotted some of the colorless spots and the raspberries with a white gel pen. (You can click on the photo to make it larger to see the detail.)

The beautiful script sentiment is from the Essentials by Ellen Wish Big stamp set.

I cut the panel on an angle and hand trimmed around a couple of the berries and the leaves to form the top image layer.

Hello Butterfly - Color Throwdown #356

Hey, y’all.  It’s my turn to host the Color Throwdown challenge this week.

I fell in love with this inspiration photo the minute I saw it!  Then I panicked and thought the colors would be too hard to work with.  But after playing around with them and coming up with my card I decided that I really do love the color combo of Orange, Green and Black! 

~

~

I created my background with stencils and Distress inks.  The butterfly from WPlus9 was stamped on vellum and I colored it with Copic markers on the reverse side of the vellum.  The Hand Lettered Hello die cut is also from WPlus9.

~

~

Special Day in watercolors - Color Throwdown #354

Hello, friends!

It’s time for our latest edition of the Color Throwdown challenge!  And it’s a new month so we’re also welcoming a brand new guest designer.

Wanda is our hostess this week with these gorgeous soft colors for us to play with:

I just got this awesome new die set called Dainty Flowers from Paper Smooches on a recent shopping trip at Ellen Hutson’s shop and I couldn’t wait to play with it!  Here’s what I came up with:

~

~

I used the smooshing technique for the kraft and blue background and I used a water brush to paint the die cut flowers.

~

~

I also used my Copic markers to shade and highlight the flowers.  They’re popped up on foam mounting tape too.

Sailboat Birthday Wishes - CTS133 Guest Designer

Hello, everyone!

A few weeks back, on 5/3/15 to be exact, THIS CARD was chosen as the winning one for the CAS(E) this sketch #120 challenge!!  As a result I was asked to be the Guest Designer for this week’s CAS(E) this sketch #133.  And of course I said yes!!  They always have wonderful sketches to play with.

So here’s this week’s CTS #133:

I used Bokeh Dots from the Essentials by Ellen line for the fun background.  The rest of the images are from the new PTI Ahoy stamp set.  I also used the matching dies.  The inks are from WPlus9 and are listed individually in the supply list below.

Celebrate the Hippo

Ha!  I didn’t know what else to title this post!

I wanted to pop in to share a card I made for an upcoming birthday, using the Wish Big set from the Essentials by Ellen line.  I colored this adorable hippo  with Copic markers after stamping him with Antique Linen Distress ink.  Yes, I’ve been heavily influenced by my friend Alice Wertz!  She’s amazing!

So here’s my first attempt at the no-line coloring.

I also added a 4-layer Celebrate that I die cut using the new PTI Good Times die.  The white layer was cut using a Stitched Slopes and Hills die.

I used a Rose Red instead of the classic red.  I thought the flowers would look better that way!

One Layer Hello - Color Throwdown #324

~

HAPPY NEW YEAR, y’all!!

I hope you all had a very happy and restful Christmas and New Year celebration!  I’m back from a short holiday break and ready to roll!  How about you? 

So let’s start off the new year with a brand new Color Throwdown challenge!  The oh-so-lovely Monika is our hostess today and she’s chosen a very dramatic color scheme for us to play with!  What a great inspiration photo!

I chose to stay simple and a little dramatic as well with my one-layer Hello card:

~

~

The background is simply stenciled using Wendy Vecchi translucent embossing paste and a mini vineyard TCW stencil.  I colored a die-cut piece of linen with my Dylusions Cherry Pie ink spray and dried it with my heat tool.  The hello was cut using my WPlus9 Hand-Lettered Hello die.

Happy Holidays & Celebrating CAS(E) This Sketch #100

Hi, y'all, and happy Monday to you!  Well, it's happy for me because I'm not working and I'm going shopping with my bestie!!

But I wanted to pop in and show you a card I made to celebrate the CAS(E) This Sketch #100!

~

~

Very simple and clean.  The Stag head was die cut from mirrored paper, so it was a little hard to get a good photo.  There's also some shimmer from some tinsel Color Shine spray and from the tiny gray rhinestones.
