Cat with Blanket - Color Throwdown #586

Happy Wednesday, y'all!  Are you ready for a brand new Color Throwdown challenge?  Today Lisa is our hostess and the generic colors she's chosen are Pink, Purple, and White.  It's a great color combo!

I spotted the latest CAS(E) this Sketch challenge and knew I wanted to play along, so this is what I came up with:

~

I used a circle die to cut a stencil, then used my TE Blender Brushes and some Distress ink to make the row of circles. Then I needed a smaller image and this cat dragging his little blankie was the perfect size.  It's a retired image from Rubbernecker Stamps.  I also used the Rubbernecker Happy Birthday stamp set for the sentiment.

Fantasy Floral Wishing You - Color Throwdown #497

It’s time for a new Color Throwdown challenge! Are y’all ready?

Lori has chosen a really beautiful color palette for us – Coral, Yellow, Pale Aqua, and Green.

~

~

I have been waiting for just the right color combo to use with my new (to me) Fantasy Floral die set, and this one is perfect!

~

~

All the pieces were die cut from Ranger watercolor paper and and then smooshed and painted with Distress inks.  I added a little texture to the card base using a Swiss Dots embossing folder.

And I used the cool layout from this weeks retro Case This Sketch #275.

Sketchy Floral Take Two - Color Throwdown #460

~

Hello, again!

I hope any of you who were in the path of the devastating hurricanes we've had over the past 2 weeks are recovering from the losses and emotional stress.  I know the South Carolina low-country coast has been all but demolished again, less than a year after Matthew.  It's so sad.  It's one of the places that I love most.  My prayers go out to all of you who have been affected in any way.

On to happier subjects!  Like the latest challenge from the Color Throwdown!

How is that for a beautiful combo?   Navy, Green, and White.

I have to confess that I loved the Altenew Sketchy Floral stamp set that I used for last week's Color Throwdown so much that I used it again this week!  I just had to play with it embossed in white onto dark cardstock and colored with my Prismacolor pencils.  And yes, it was everything I imagined it could be!

The beautiful sentiment that goes so well with it is from the Simon Says Stamp set Thoughtful Messages.

As Special As You - Color Throwdown #456

It seems that it’s time once again for our latest Color Throwdown challenge!  This week Lisa is our hostess and her fun color combo consists of Hot Pink, Lime Green, and Yellow.

I have looked far and wide for the Darcie’s But First Tea clear stamp set since I saw it at a stamp show in Columbia, SC, last year, but have been unable to find it.  I only see it available in red rubber.  So my friend, Wendy, let me borrow hers to make my card today.  It has such sweet images!

~

~

This was fun to make.  Little splashes of watercolor on the background, Copic coloring of the images, and a white heat embossed tiny sentiment.

Wish - Color Throwdown #419

Y’all know if it’s Wednesday, it’s time for a brand new Color Throwdown challenge!  Vickie is our hostess and she’s chosen a beautiful fresh color palette for us to play with – Orange, Green, and Red.

~

~

These colors really inspired me this week!  I had some new goodies from Simon Says Stamp and I decided I wanted to try something out with the new Abstract Triangles 6 x 6 cling stamp. 

~

~

I heat embossed the triangles using clear embossing powder and then I used Color Bursts to watercolor the triangles to form a loose pattern which mimics this week’s sketch #CTS198 from CASE this Sketch.

~

~

I really do love how these bright colors add life to the triangles!

~

~

Enjoy Today! - Color Throwdown #406

~

Ok, peeps!  It’s time for the latest edition of the Color Throwdown challenge!  Are you as ready as I am?

Lisa is our super-duper, talented hostess and here are the colors she’s chosen: Orange, Green, Pale Pink and White.

What a wonderful combo!

I pulled out my new-to-me Pineapples A Plenty from Reverse Confetti and created  a birthday card for a male friend of mine.  And yes, I used a touch of pale pink on a card for a male!

~

~

I stamped a border of the pineapple top using PTI Classic Kraft ink and dotting my wet paintbrush on the stamp before pressing it to the paper.  I die cut the pineapple and its top and then stamped them using Distress inks, also wetting them before stamping.  Of course then I needed to go back over the “Enjoy Today” with my white gel pen, but that was easy peasy.

There was a little too much white space for me so I took a very old linen background stamp from SU and stamped it in the kraft ink.  Then I popped up my pineapple on foam mounting tape and tied on some kraft colored twine.  I just adore that the sentiment is “built in”!!!

Oceans of Joy - Color Throwdown #402

~

Hello and happy Wednesday, everyone!  It’s time for our latest Color Throwdown challenge and this week the incredible Barbara is our hostess.

Here is the beautiful color combo she’s chosen for us:  Lime, Orange, Orchid, and Aqua

I’d just love to have that living room!  Such a tropical flavor and I really like how the colors are so different and distinct.  That’s what I tried to mimic with my card.

~

~

The new Hero Arts Layering Seahorse stamp set that I got from Simon Says Stamp is awesome!!  It was so easy to create the multi-dimensional look of the seahorse, shell and starfish.  I love them!!

Pineapple Birthday - Color Throwdown #397

Hello there, friends!  Here it is Wednesday again and time for a new Color Throwdown challenge!

Lori is our hostess this week and I love her down-to-earth summer colors of kraft, yellow, and green!

What a perfect summer bag!

I decided to stay pretty darn close to the inspiration photo by using a kraft background and a pineapple on my card.

~

~

Since I have loads of family birthdays coming up in July – 9 to be exact – most of the cards I’m making now are in that theme.  I used the PTI One Liners Happy die paired with a Dymo tape “birthday” for the sentiment.

Reanna & Kit - Color Throwdown #387

Hey, you guys!  Are you ready for another fabulous color combo from the Color Throwdown?  Lori is our hostess choosing this week’s super fun palette.  Take a look:

I may have to have a wreath like that one for my door!  Too fun!

I decided to create a cute little birthday card for a dear friend of mine.  She has a red-headed daughter who quite often wears her hair in a top ponytail, so I knew this was the right image to use.  This is Reanne & Kit from Rubbernecker.

Aren’t they adorable?  They were colored with my Copic markers and popped up with foam mounting tape.

So Happy - Color Throwdown #385

~

Well, another Wednesday has rolled around, y’all!  That means we have another awesome color combo for you at the Color Throwdown!  Jodi is our hostess and here’s the great palette she’s chosen:

Now those colors are right up my alley!  And of course I thought of water and the beach!

I was running a little short on time since I was out of town all last weekend and decided that dies were the weapon of choice to get a card done quickly.  So here is what I came up with.

~

~

I die cut the piece of smooshed water colored paper with my Big Splash border die and punched out the swirly pieces, then adhered it to the white card base.

I die cut the sentiment using the PTI Scripted die “So Happy” 3 times and layered them on top, using the layout from CAS(E) This Sketch #164:

~

~

I added the sequins and then I was done!
