I Think You're Fabulous - Color Throwdown #678

Happy Wednesday, y'all!  Today's Color Throwdown colors are Pink, Red, Cranberry, and Kraft.  What a great combo!

So, I've got a birthday card for a very special lady to show you today.  And I had the BEST time making it too!

Here's the card.

I always forget how fun it is to play with alcohol inks until I get a push to do so from someone.  This time the push came from Jennifer McGuire, and you KNOW how big her pushes are!!  Here's a link to her video that inspired me: Alcohol Ink Press Technique 

It was so easy and so fun!  And these colors were just perfect to play with!  The color that looks like kraft mixed in with the reds is actually a gold mixative and it's really shimmery IRL.  The sentiment is from WPlus9 and the sentiment die is from Technique Tuesday (links below).

Best Day Ever - Color Throwdown #687

Happy Wednesday, y'all!

Our new Color Throwdown challenge today features this color combo: Lime Green, Aqua, Gold.

I love the colored dots in the inspiration photo and I wanted to use them, but then I went in a completely different direction with alcohol inks! 

~

~

I LOVE the Bold Text #1 die set from Tim Holtz and want to use it on everything!  It worked out great for an anniversary card I needed!

I used Brea Reese alcohol inks, and made the full panel into a shaker with tiny lime, aqua, and gold stars.  Easy Peasy!

Happy day to you all!  It's Wednesday and time for another new Color Throwdown challenge!  This week our colors are Blue, Green, and Gold.

I love these colors and I love this inspiration piece!  I just used alcohol inks last week, but I couldn't resist using them again.  Here's my alcohol ink shaker card.

For this birthday card (no, it's not a Valentine!), I used the Love word die from Scrapbook.com and a Heart Stitches die from Papertrey Ink. And I made this into a fun glitter shaker card for the recipient.

Celebrate (Twice) - Color Throwdown #670

Happy Wednesday!  This week for the Color Throwdown challenge we have a beautiful color combo consisting of Blue, Yellow, and Red.

I love that adorable little bird! 

But I needed 2 birthday cards for this week, and I needed something quick to make but also fun.  So I pulled out the alcohol inks, and this is what I came up with!

~

~

I simply dropped alcohol ink in 3 different colors along the top of an A2 panel of glossy cardstock, and then around the border of the next panel.  I dropped some blending solution as well to dilute and spread the colors a little.

~

~

~

It's a little hard to see in the above photos, but I also added some alcohol ink gold mixative using my glass pen along the edge of some of the color shapes.

~

~

~

I really like the shine that it adds!

The sentiment and little twinkles are from the Good Times stamp set from Papertrey Ink.

Big Butterfly Wishes - Color Throwdown #644

Hello and happy Wednesday!  Today for the Color Throwdown challenge, we have a fun and bright color combo: Yellow, Black, Gray, and White.

Isn't that a great inspiration photo?  

I decided to use butterflies....the beautiful Rubbernecker ones!

They are water colored and popped up over an alcohol ink background.  I used my Copic air brush to stylize it.

Quite A Christmas with Power Poppy - Let It Glow Sentiments

Welcome to Day 4 of the Power Poppy Quite A Christmas release!  We are revealing ONE new stamp set each day, for 5 days.  All sets are available as clear stamps as well as digital downloads the day they are released!  You can check out all the details at the Power Poppy blog or at the Power Poppy shop.

Day 4's stamp set is called Let It Glow - Sentiments.

Such a fun set!  I decided to kick up the "glow" part of the sentiment with some alcohol inks and gold sparkle!

~

~

Just a note:  I can allow my star to hang over the edge of the card because I always use size A6 envelopes when mailing my handmade cards.  They measure 4.75" x 6.5".
