Wish Upon a Star - Color Throwdown #472

Hey, y’all!

It’s Wednesday again and time for another great color combo from the Color Throwdown crew!  This week Barbara is our hostess, and here is the beautiful palette she’s chosen for us – Black, Red, and Gray.

I haven’t made a card with a really dark card base in a long time so I decided to go with black!  The gray sponged image background, matted with silver glitter paper, and the white embossed sentiment really show up well, don’t you think?

The background was created with Iced Spruce and Black Soot Distress Oxide inks.  I spritzed it with water, and when it dried I splattered on some white acrylic paint.  Then I also painted on a few stars, dotted in the centers with Star Dust Stickles.  I colored the trees with some green-gray Copic markers and the penguin with darker grays and red Copics. And this is not a Christmas card, but a birthday card for a December-born sweetie.

WOW! You jumped right out there and totally soared with your creative genius once again. Your night sky is SO COOL! Excellent use of the colors and your talents for an awesome birthday card. Oh and I still have a plan for my 12/25 cards that I need to implement a lot more. Why are some years so "meh"?

You sure know how to make a dark card base look beautiful! Funny how this still looks bright and cute, even with the dark colors. Adorable scene for a birthday card. The stamp set and matching dies are so cute!
