Being Unique - Color Throwdown #448

Happy Wednesday, everybody!

We have a super fun color combo for you today at the Color Throwdown.   Lynn  is our hostess and the generic colors are Purple, Mint Green, Hot Pink, and Teal.

I needed a fun birthday card for a good friend and decided to use the retired (?) Fabulous Flamingo from Reverse Confetti because I love flamingoes, and because I adore the sentiments in this set.

I had fun playing some more with the Distress Oxide inks for this background. I used Broken China and Cracked Pistachio and blended it over the white cardstock. Then I misted water onto the raised inside of the Tide embossing folder, placed my blended cardstock into it (blended side of the paper to the misted side of the folder), and ran it through my Big Shot. The water lifted the pattern right off of the cardstock! I also sprinkled some more water onto the layer to get the droplet look.

Then I used the same folder to dry emboss the pink cardstock, and I stamped the awesome sentiment onto the blended cardstock. The flamingo, a few sequins, and a piece of twine completed the card.

Happy Summer! Totally COOL how you did that D.O. background with the wet embossing folder. And that you then layered it over the same one, only in a different color and dry! WINNER! Fantastic sentiment and glad you still have some sequins left to sprinkle around now and then. These are wonderful colors that you somehow managed to make tropical. If I played along, I'd just color hydrangeas and whine over the fact that I've never been successful with them nor rhododendrons, but I have got some amazing weeds ;)...

Wow! That is very cool the way you did the inky background! Who would've thought? I seriously need to add that to my lengthy list of things to try. Pretty flamingo all dressed up with the purple wing. Cute!
