Hello, everyone! I hope you’re enjoying your summer so far!
It’s the 15th of the month, so I’m excited to be able to show you the very latest creation from the pen of the super-talented Marcella Hawley! It’s called Sunshine of My Life! And it’s brilliant!
~
This is what Marcy had to say about this new set:
“I've long been inspired by Vincent Van Gogh's series of vibrant sunflower paintings done in Arles in the late 1880s. The studies partly became famous not only for their beauty, but for their innovative use of "the yellow spectrum" — as new yellow pigments were being developed at the time, and Vincent was able to create many new colors and shades of yellow with paint. This is my little ode to his lovely creations, of course mine are done in black and white, and YOU get to add the "yellow spectrum"! There are lots of petals to color and joy to bring! I dare you to Google sunflowers and see just how many varieties there are today — deep reds, purples, oranges, peach, and every shade of yellow from palest lemon to intense sunburst! The sentiment is inspired by Stevie Wonder, who is one of the sunshines of MY life.”
I could NOT wait to color it up! I’ve used my Copic markers. Even for the splattered background. That started when one of the orange markers flicked color onto the paper when I opened it. So I just went with that theme, especially since most of the image was already colored!

Oh, Broni, what fabulous coloring, and it sounds like you really enjoyed this one -- including adding all the splatters. I need to try that soon. Beautifully done, and I really love your great layout with the twine. Stunning card, my friend! Hugs!

Broni, your creativity never ceases to amaze me!! I adore your coloring...as always. And your little extras just put this baby over the top. LOVE the purple vase. The texture you gave it is so incredible. And your splatters are fabulous! I got a dot on mine and used my Colorless Blender over, and over, and over to get rid of it. Wish I would have come up with your idea. I LOVE the look!

I can almost feel the petals of these beauties! LOVE that you make things look REAL. And how fun that your "oops" turned into creative genius. I hope there's all kinds of sunshine in your life as we start the weekend, even if you're not quite at the beach yet.

So fun how the ink flickers of a marker can set a theme that gives a card such fun! This is lovely Broni, so cheerful, vibrant and encouraging!

Broni this is wonderful with the flecks of white in the center of the sunflowers. The over all feeling is awesome and so very pretty!

Fantastic, Broni! The shine on the vase and all the color in the centers of the sunflowers -- not just brown -- gorgeous! Love the flicks of color, too!

Beautiful card, Broni! Your coloring is amazing! How fun that you went with the specks instead of tossing it and starting over. It looks great!
