Hello and happy 15th of the month to you! I can’t believe we’re that far into fall already!! Well, not technically, but the kids are back in school so to me that’s fall!
The Instant Gardeners are debuting a brand new and super gorgeous digital image for Power Poppy today! It’s called Olive and Oak and it’s such a special one!
~
To quote the creator Marcella Hawley, “The leaves and fruit/seeds of each tree are intertwined, the Oak for strength and the Olive for peace... the sentiment shares wishes along these lines. I think we all can use a little peace and strength some days, can't we?”
Here’s my card using the image and the sentiment:
~
I pulled out an art medium that I’ve never used before for this image, my Derwent Artbars. They were different, but they’re water soluble so with my water brush I was able to paint the image. While that dried I also painted the background and even spattered it a bit as well. This was all done on Mixed Media paper. I find it easier to print a digital image on this, and the watercolors spread just as easily.
I fussy-cut the entire image and tied a piece of linen thread around the branches. I added some sequins to the background as well.
I’m entering this into the Addicted to CAS challenge #72 – Leaves:

Now be sure to check out what the rest of the Instant Gardeners have created for your inspiration and then head on over to the Power Poppy Store to do some shopping!

Pretty!! LOVE your coloring. It's amazing that even when you try a new to you medium that you still make whatever you color look REAL! Things that I especially like are the twine bow and those oh so subtle sequins!

Great background colors! It really pulls the eye in and then the leaves and acorns are so detailed. Love that touch of twine, too!
