Simple Sunflower Hugs - Color Throwdown #353

Happy Hump Day!!  Woo hoo!  Only a couple more days until the weekend!

It’s time to reveal a brand new Color Throwdown challenge!  Vickie is our hostess this week and here are her fun colors (yellow, purple, and green):

I just had to go with the sunflower image, so I pulled out my PTI Simple Sunflower set and stamped it in Distress inks onto watercolor paper.  I die cut all the pieces, then used the smooshing technique to color my Sugar Pea Gift Tag die cut in Dusty Concord and Seedless Preserves inks.

Sailboat Birthday Wishes - CTS133 Guest Designer

Hello, everyone!

A few weeks back, on 5/3/15 to be exact, THIS CARD was chosen as the winning one for the CAS(E) this sketch #120 challenge!!  As a result I was asked to be the Guest Designer for this week’s CAS(E) this sketch #133.  And of course I said yes!!  They always have wonderful sketches to play with.

So here’s this week’s CTS #133:

I used Bokeh Dots from the Essentials by Ellen line for the fun background.  The rest of the images are from the new PTI Ahoy stamp set.  I also used the matching dies.  The inks are from WPlus9 and are listed individually in the supply list below.

It's Time to Celebrate - Color Throwdown #352

It’s Wednesday!  And it’s a good day!!

It’s also time for the latest Color Throwdown challenge.  Tammy is hosting this week and her inspiration photo is of a small tin bucket that she keeps on her desk at work.  She got it from the Target Dollar Spot.  And I LOVE the color combo:  Lime green, aqua green, light gray and dark gray.

I needed a couple of masculine birthday cards this week and decided I would save on creative energy and make them the same!    I also decided to save even more energy and make the front panels for each card together on one sheet of paper.

Here’s one of the finished cards:

And here’s the photo of the one watercolored sheet that I used for both card fronts.

I smooshed the blue and green over the white heat embossed sentiment and heat set it until it was dry, then added small bits of light gray.

I think I may need to use this idea more in the future!

Celebrate the Hippo

Ha!  I didn’t know what else to title this post!

I wanted to pop in to share a card I made for an upcoming birthday, using the Wish Big set from the Essentials by Ellen line.  I colored this adorable hippo  with Copic markers after stamping him with Antique Linen Distress ink.  Yes, I’ve been heavily influenced by my friend Alice Wertz!  She’s amazing!

So here’s my first attempt at the no-line coloring.

I also added a 4-layer Celebrate that I die cut using the new PTI Good Times die.  The white layer was cut using a Stitched Slopes and Hills die.

Layered Poppies–Color Throwdown #350

Hello there!  It’s time for a new edition of the Color Throwdown challenge!

This week Lori is our hostess and she’s chosen this unique photo inspiring us with colors of orange, pink, green, and black.

~

My colors are a little bolder than hers but still the same colors.  I watercolored some Layered Poppies using Distress Worn Lipstick ink and Color Bursts in Orange, Lemon Yellow and Pthalo Green.

~

~

I watched Dave’s video at the Rubbernecker website on the Layered Poppy Set page before I started because I wanted to be sure I used the Color Bursts the same way he did on these flowers.  His ended up with more vibrant pops of the colors, but I’ll keep trying until I can achieve the same affect.

Mermaid's Favorite Shoe - July 2015 ADFD Club Kit

Hello and happy Friday to everyone!

Today we’re showing you some of the most beautiful mermaids from this month’s new A Day For Daisies Club Kit!

My beauty today is called Mermaid’s Favorite Shoe and I just adore her!

The background is one of my stenciled Color Burst watercolored panels like THIS ONE.  Love how today's turned out!

We’re starting a new challenge at the ADFD blog too – Add some Sparkle!

And that’s exactly what I did ….I added chunky star glitter (Recollections from Michael’s) to her hair and the shoe on her tail is colored with my Turquoise Spica glitter pen. You can click on any of the photos to see them at full size.

Color Burst Stenciled - Color Throwdown #349

It’s time for a new Color Throwdown challenge…Jodi is our talented hostess this week and I love the beach house in her inspiration photo, don’t you?

I just love the colors she chose too – turquoise, orange, kraft and white.

I’ve been playing around with my Color Bursts lately and decided to try a technique that I saw on the Rubbernecker web page for the Color Bursts.  It was so simple and so much fun!  I have about 7 more of these colored panels to use on future cards now!

I just love all the color variations!
