~
My oldest grandson, Hunter, is turning 14 tomorrow. (When did I get old enough for that to happen??)
As the kids get older it's harder to decide what kind of birthday cards to make for them. They really don't appreciate the cute cards, and the boys certainly don't want any glitter, ribbons or bling.
So I thought a basic 2-layer card with a bit of stenciling would be a good choice.
~
I used my Mini Chevrons, Mini Numbers Collage, Mini Chicken Wire Reversed, and Tiny Circles stencils to create a collage of color on a piece of kraft cardstock. The Distress inks that I used are Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Crushed Olive, and Gathered Twigs, and I sponged them on with my new Mini Ink Blending Tools. Those are awesome!
I added the sentiment and small heart from the PTI Wet Paint stamp set and then sponged around the edges of the layer in Gathered Twigs ink. The layer is popped up on a kraft card base with foam mounting tape.
Hunter will just have to forgive the twine and 2 enamel dots. I can't just go cold turkey on the embellishments!!
All the supplies I used (listed below) are from eclectic Paperie.
Did you know there's an ePlay challenge going on right now (for the month of May)? Erin is our hostess and the challenge is "Get Stenciled" . I believe Hunter's card qualifies for it!
I hope he has a great birthday and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Thanks for dropping by! I'm off to another ballgame.!

PERFECT for a 14 y/o boy!!

This is really cool! I like how you snuck that heart in there, Granny! Fun colors and patterns. I'm trying to figure out how I got old enough to have my "baby" nephew turn 18; his big brother will be 21 in July. "BLINK" and it's flown by. Hope your week is flying swiftly and smoothly into a nice long weekend. p.s. I tried to come by last night, but I kept getting some freaky "404 error"; so glad you're back.

Your card is perfect, Broni! Your grandson will LOVE it! I may have to steal your idea for my own son's birthday coming up! He's the same way! No bling or glitter for him!
