Happy Retirement! - Color Throwdown #220

Hey, guys!

It's time for our latest edition of the Color Throwdown!  Wanda is our super-talented host and she's chosen some super-fun colors!

~

~

I have a dear friend who is retiring this Friday, so I wanted to make a happy card for her!  I pulled out a bunch of supplies from eclectic Paperie and went to work!

My background was made by stamping the Market Street Stamps Honeycomb stamp in Versamark onto some ivory cardstock, and then clear embossing it.  Then using different ink blending tools for each color, I sponged on some Tumbled Glass, Fired Brick, and Shabby Shutters Distress ink.   I love how bright and fun it turned out!

I stamped my mug from the Daily Grind stamp set using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored it using these Copic markers: BG000, BG01, BG02, and BG05.  I cut it out and popped it up on foam tape.  I did the same with the red heart.  The steam and the sentiment are also from this stamp set.  The ivory die cut circle was airbrushed using my BG05 Copic while it was still in the die.  I added some ribbon, a flower, and a button to finish the card.

I also used last week's MOJO268 sketch.

FTTC197 - Naturally Merry

Good Tuesday morning, everyone!  Have you recovered from Thanksgiving yet?  I think I'm still stuffed!

Today Cindy is our Flourishes Timeless Tuesday hostess and I love that she's asked us to use either gold or silver in our creation.

As much as I love gold, silver is my metal of choice today!  I used a piece of silver glitter paper, some silver metallic string and a tiny silver dome sticker as my silver elements.

I chose to use my Silhouette to cut, then color up the holly branches from Naturally Merry using these Copic color collections:

~

~

I also used some YG21 from the New Leaves collection to brighten up the leaves a little.

I used red paper from the Color-Made-Easy Poppy paper collection and some beautiful basque red seam binding that matches perfectly!  I tied some of the silver metallic string around my bow.  I also used my ink blending tool and some Ranger Frayed Burlap ink to shade around the edge of the sentiment oval.  The final touch was to add some glossy accents on each of the berries.

A Tiny Tinsel Tree - Color Throwdown #219

Happy Wednesday!  Can y'all believe it's Thanksgiving already??  Where has this year gone?  It seems that every time I blink it's time for a new Color Throwdown challenge.  See?  I blinked and here it is!

~

~

Tammy is our holiday hostess this week and I love the colors she chose, as well as the inspiration photo.  I loved it so much I wanted to try to make a similar tree!  Then I remembered THIS TREE by the fabulously talented Shari Carroll.  I loved it; I pinned it; and I wanted to try to make one like it!

FTTC196 - Happy!

Hey everyone!  It's my turn to host the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge! 

~

~

My challenge to everyone this week is to make a card or project that makes you Happy!  You can interpret that however you choose to!

For my project, I chose to use the new Stitched For You stamp set.  I was thrilled when this set was introduced!  If I must endure cold weather, just sit me on a soft sofa in front of a fire, give me a cup of coffee or hot cocoa, and let me knit to my heart's content while watching my favorite movies or television shows!  That way maybe I'll survive until the summer rolls back around!

Here's my Happy card:

I started out by using this week's Deconstructed Sketch #78:

~

~

I stamped my image on Flourishes Classic white cardstock using Memento Rich Cocoa ink.   I colored it up using some of my favorite happy colors from these Copic Color Collections:

~

~

The hot pink banner was cut from some of the textured cardstock from the Poppy Paper Collection.  The patterned papers are from the Echo Park This & That Graceful 6x6 paper pad.  I used a Spellbinders Labels One to cut the image out and popped it up on foam mounting tape.  I even pulled out my trusty old sewing machine to stitch around the edges (a little sloppily, I might add).

A Moment of Magic - Color Throwdown #218

Hello, friends!  How's your week going?  Besides it not being Friday yet, I guess mine's moving along just fine!

Today is our latest Color Throwdown challenge to you.  Lynn is our super-talented hostess and I just adore her choice of inspiration photos and color palette:

Despite my loving the colors, it took me a little while to decide what to do with them.  I still have a little of the Cool Caribbean cardstock left but I'm really stingy with it, so I had to talk myself into using a little of it for today's card!

~

~

I used my sponge dauber and some Distress inks in Broken China, Frayed Burlap, and Walnut Stain, as well as a little of SU's Cool Caribbean, to ink through my Dylusions Dotted Flowers stencil.    I also sponged around the edges with Frayed Burlap after distressing it with my Tonic scissors.

The tree from the Woodgrain Silhouette stamp set was inked in Walnut Stain and stamped onto some kraft cardstock, then sponged on the edges with Frayed Burlap as well.  I stamped the butterfly from the same stamp set in Cool Caribbean ink onto white cardstock and cut it out, then added Star Dust Stickles.

My sentiment is from the Dylusions The Right Words stamp set.  (Most of the supplies I used are from the eclectic Paperie store and are linked below.)

FTTC195 All Natural ... and it's Release Week!!

Hello, everyone, and happy Tuesday to you!  It's time for the newest Timeless Tuesday challenge and since it's also new release week, our fabulous Senior Design Team will be joining in on the challenge today!

Denise is our hostess this week and she's asked us to use this as inspiration for an All Natural creation:

~

~

Today we're thrilled to introduce you to the latest in the In and Out collection - Just Because.  This is certainly one of the most versatile sets you can add to your stamp collection.

~

~

I've chosen to use mine to create a birthday tag/bookmark. 

~

~

The base tag was ivory and I colored it with my Distress stain in Frayed Burlap, then sponged the edges in Distress Frayed Burlap ink.  The color seemed to soak into the tag instead of lying on top, so I decided to also use the stain dauber to create some splotches and immediately clear emboss them.  It worked to add more of the darker color to the tag.

The sentiment itself was also clear embossed using Distress Frayed Burlap ink and Brushed Corduroy ink on Flourishes Classic Ivory cardstock.  I cut several fishtail banners from my Basic Grey Nook & Cranny 6x6 paper pad and other cardstock and sponged their edges with Antique Linen and Frayed Burlap ink.  I layered a paper doily onto the tag, and then all my various fishtail banners.  The tag is topped with a bow in ribbon and also in twine.

ADFD Thankful Hearts and challenge #57

Hello and happy Friday, everyone!  It's time to show you the latest release from A Day For Daisies.  This one is so beautiful and is perfect for Fall and Thanksgiving!

I chose to use the beautiful "Love of Birds" image and colored her up with some warm Autumn colors using my Copic markers.  She was printed on some ivory cardstock and then cut with a petite oval die and mounted on a kraft Floral Oval die cut.  The patterned paper is from the retired Basic Grey Indian Summer 6x6 paper pad.

Penguin Fun - Color Throwdown #217

Yee haw, it's hump day!  Only 2 more days until the weekend!  Of course, Wednesday also means it's time for a new Color Throwdown challenge!  More reason to celebrate!

Denise is our super fun and talented hostess and I just love her choice of colors this week!

I'm also playing along in the CAS(E) This Sketch! #4:

~

~

I love it, and I knew right away that I wanted to use a little penguin from the Our Craft Lounge Penguin Fun stamp set as one of the 3 featured elements.

~

~

I colored up my little guy using Copic markers to bring in all the color for the challenge.  The piece of paper tape was a last minute detail that I decided to add and I'm so glad I did.  LOVE it!  I put Star Dust stickles on one of the background snowflakes and also around the edge of the sentiment layer.
