Fall Leaves - Color Throwdown #216

Hi there!  It's time for this week's edition of the Color Throwdown challenge!  Kerri is our hostess and she picked a really cool combo and inspiration photo for us:

At first I couldn't decide what to do with the combo, but once I chose to make some pumpkin-colored leaves, everything kind of fell into place.

I stamped my leaves from the Our Craft Lounge Simply Fall set onto a piece of white cardstock and scribbled on them with some Copic markers, then cut them out.

~

~

My kraft card base was a 3.5" wide scrap that I folded in half and since it was so narrow it allowed me to let a few elements hang off the edge of the base.  I loved last week's Freshly Made Sketches #58, so that was my inspiration for this layout.

~

~

The zig zags from the Every Heartbeat stamp set were stamped in SU's night of navy ink onto the kraft and all the ribbons are either adhered or stapled with the tiny attacher onto the card base.

The leaves are adhered to a rosette made with the Sizzix Paper Rosette die.

So many talented people!  Did you see that Starla is joining us for this hop??  YAY!!!!

Now on to my project~

I love the Studio 490 products!  But being an accountant as well as a crafter, I have a right brain-left brain battle going on constantly!  I've found the best way to meld the two sides is to craft in a practical way.  I try to make things that I can actually use, as opposed to something that just looks good.  KWIM?

So today I've created a Jar Wrap made of grungepaper and various Studio 490 elements.

See?  Practical! 

The main wrap is grungepaper that I painted with Ranger Distress Stains  then stamped with the background from the Studio 490 Forever Art stamp set.  The flower and leaves are also from that set.  The frame is actually a bookplate from one of Wendy's Art Parts sets, and the words "Imagine" and "ART" are from the I Am My Art stamp set.  The "Imagine" looks darker because I coated it with Glossy Accents to give it more definition.

I used Ranger Glossy Accents to adhere everything to the grungepaper and used various jewelry clasps and jump rings to attach the little Idea-ology charm and the key, which is kind of hiding behind the jewelry pieces.

Because this is a wrap, nothing could be attached completely to the grungepaper, only where it would lay flat when attached to the jar.  You can see all the gaps in the closeups.  Very 3-D looking!!

I just used some seam binding from my sewing basket to tie the back together.  I had thought of gluing it to the jar, but then decided on a less permanent attachment for now.

FTTC193 - Christmas Peace

Good Tuesday morning, everyone!  It's time for the latest Timeless Tuesday challenge! 

~

~

The oh-so-talented Allison is our hostess this week and she's asked us to create a project where part of the image "falls off the page".  What a great challenge!

I knew right away I wanted to use the Trimmed with Love stamp set.  The Christmas tree is just perfect for this!

~

~

I stamped it on Flourishes Classic White cardstock using Memento tuxedo black ink and colored it with my Copic markers.  I also stamped it a second time onto some Flourishes Classic Ivory cardstock using Memento Pistachio ink to act as a "shadow", and also because I'm using this week's Unscripted Sketches sketch #182 which called for a double image.

My card base is also made from Flourishes Classic Ivory cardstock, then layered with some cardstock from the Poppy paper collection.  The Basque Red ribbon and Memento Love Letter ink used to stamp the "Peace", along with the Poppy paper collection are all a part of the Poppy Color Made Easy collection.

I topped it all off with some buttons, some Silver Metallic String, Star Dust Stickles, and a few touches of white ink using my Inkssentials Opaque white pen.

Green Eyed Monsters!

Hey, guys!  I couldn't wait for you to see the A Day For Daisies release for this week!  Here are the Green Eyed Monsters:

I made Halloween cards for all the grandkids and had a true blast doing it! 

I won't bore you with a lot of details because there are so many photos, but I will tell you that we're starting a new challenge this week - #56 Use Halloween colors.

I used Monster Joe and Monster Molly for my cards. Coloring these cuties was so much fun, and I love that I was able to use some more of the googly eyes from my Wednesday project! 

The super cool sentiment is from the Our Craft Lounge Spooky Tags stamp set, and I used the iSpy Sketches #ISSC38 for my layout.

Here's Looking at You! - Color Throwdown #215

I've wanted to fill this Apothecary Jar from Clear and Simple Stamps with googly eyes ever since I first purchased it at the CKC convention in Charlotte in August!  I found these cute eyes at Michaels and knew they were perfect!

Yay!  I finally did it!  And it worked great with the inspiration photo, don't you think?

FTTC#192 - Happy Birthday!

Hi there, everyone!  Are you ready for the latest edition of the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge?  I know I am.  I adore using these fabulous images!

~

~

Amanda is our hostess this week and she's asked us to make a birthday card or project!  It just so happens that my Mom's birthday is in a couple of weeks, so I thought I'd make a card for her.

~

~

I chose to use one of the frames from my Flowers and Frames set, along with one of the Sentimental Favorites sentiments.

The frame is stamped in Frayed Burlap Distress ink and I also sponged around the edges of the sentiment oval die cut using my ink blending tool.   The sentiment is stamped in Memento tuxedo black ink.   The background paper is from the beautiful Alla Prima 6x6 paper pad.

Think Pink - a Mum for a Cause

Hello, everyone, and happy Friday to you!  Yay, it's the weekend (almost)!

We have a new A Day For Daisies release for you today.  The release is called Think Pink and all the images are in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month.  There are beautiful flowers and butterflies, all entwined with pink ribbons!

You can see all the new images at the A Day For Daisies shop or on the ADFD blog.  I chose to use the mum image for my card today.

I used a LOT of different Copic colors on the flower.  They're all shown in the photo in the supplies section.  I just kept coloring, and coloring, and coloring….  There's also some Ranger Glossy Accents on the ribbon.

I didn't use a lot of white in my creation.  I thought black went along with my Halloween theme a little better.

My image is from A Little Witchy from Our Craft Lounge; all my other supplies are from eclectic Paperie.  I just love playing with my Dylusions ink sprays!  My canvas tag  is from Maya Road, the button is from Buttons Galore, and I used several different twines, all placed on my black tag.

FTTC191 Snowy Greetings

Hi, everyone!  It time for another Timeless Tuesday challenge at the Flourishes blog.  I think you're going to enjoy this one!

Cindy is our hostess and she has asked us to create a "Winter inspired" card.

Winter to me means cold and snowy, even though we don't have much snow here in the South.  So I pulled out my new Snow Day stamp set and went to work.

The skate image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Flourishes Classic White cardstock and colored with the Copic collections shown below.  I cut it out and mounted it on a Floral Ovals die cut using foam tape.  I put Sparkly Fluff on the pom-poms and tied bows using twine and metallic silver string to attach at the top.

The background was embossed only on the left side using a snowflake folder, and then I dappled it with Stickles. 

~

~

Musical Butterflies - a new A Day For Daisies release

Hi, guys!  It's Friday and that means it's time for a new A Day For Daisies release!  This week we have some gorgeous Musical Butterflies!

~

~

Fabulous!

I pulled out my new Indie Chic Citron paper and started with the October 2012 SFYTT:

~

~

I printed my butterflies onto some Flourishes Classic Ivory cardstock.  After the printer ink dried thoroughly, I soaked each butterfly with Copic Colorless Blender ink, then colored with my Copic markers.

I did this by squirting a little pool of the blender ink onto my craft sheet, and then soaking it up with the tip of my 0 marker.  This made the marker very juicy and allowed for a more watercolored look for the butterflies.

I made a large blossom to be the center of my focal point, using the Tattered Florals die and the Bitty Blossoms die as well.  Some of the petals are all glittered up!
