What fun!  All the A Day For Daisies designers are having a mini-Halloween-y hop today!  You're going to love these spooky (& cute) Halloween images!

Now on to my Halloween-y creation:

This little Dragon Cutie is adorable, yet spooky at the same time!  She was colored with Copic markers and cut out.  I also created a second set of wings from vellum and layered them on top.

The manila tag was sponged with Distress inks, then spritzed with water and Dylusions ink sprays.  I stamped over that with a slightly inked Honeycomb stamp then added more interest by stamping again in a couple of places using ink on some bubble wrap.  I also added some printed tape, some textural ribbons and some bling.

A Song in My Heart!

I'm really excited for you to see the images in this week's A Day For Daisies release!  Do you like precious little birds?  Uh huh.  Do you like music?  That's what I thought.  Now combine the 2…..

What did I tell you?  Aren't these great?

I had a hard time choosing which bird to play with, and when I did choose one and watercolored it with my Ranger Distress inks, then I had a hard time deciding how to present it.

I actually had this elaborate multi-media art journal page to mount it on, but in the end I chose to go simple.  This little guy needs to shine on his own!

Isn't my little goldfinch adorable?  I love him!!

Round 2 - Taylored Expressions Last Card Standing

The Round 2 theme is FRIENDSHIP.

My daughter is my best friend and we share an intense love of the ocean and all things beach-related.  (No surprise to anyone who's been to my blog before!)  So it was easy for me to choose The Places You'll Go stamp set to use for my card.

The image is stamped on patterned paper from the 6x6 Bundle Collection: Fresh from Authentique, and colored with Copic markers.  I used a Labels Eighteen die to cut the frame in another piece of patterned paper and to also cut the red frame (from more Fresh paper).  The blue patterned layer is stitched around the edges and popped up on foam mounting tape.

I stamped the image onto white cardstock and cut it using a Big Scallop Oval die.  I also sponged some Soft Sky ink onto it before removing the die.  It's popped up on foam mounting tape too.

Finally I tied on some Crumb Cake ribbon and topped it with a vintage button and a sailor's knot tied with PTI button twine.

That's it!

Thankful Flourishes - Color Throwdown #211

Hey, guys!  Are you ready for some …….Throwdown??  Surely you didn't think I was going to say football, did you? LOL!

This week Wanda is our hostess and she's chosen the most beautiful inspiration photo!

~

~

I was a little unsure of the color choices however.  That Summer Starfruit color really threw me off.  I still don't have a good grip on what exactly that color is.  But trudge on I did!!  I used a few different greenish, yellowish elements in hopes that Starfuit is at least sort of represented!

~

~

I used my Thankful Flourishes set from Our Craft Lounge.  That will always be one of my favorite floral sets!  The latest challenge at the OCL blog is OCL135 - Hexagons!  Love hexagons, so I'm playing along in that challenge too!

~

~

And my layout is the MOJO260 sketch, but my card isn't round or square.  Oops!

~

~

FTTC188 So Grateful

Good Tuesday morning, everyone!  I hope your week is going well so far!

Today our Timeless Tuesday challenge hostess is Maki and she's asked us to make a Fall Themed project.

My first choice of images was my Autumn Blossoms along with the Silhouette cut file.  It's SO convenient not to have to fussy cut such beautiful detailed images, isn't it?

The image and the sentiment are both stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa ink on Flourishes Classic Ivory cardstock.  And the beautiful patterned paper is from the Alla Prima collection.  I sponged the sentiment oval while it was still in the die, using Walnut Stain ink and my ink blending tool.  

The dark brown panel is actually from my scraps stash.  It was made long ago by crumpling cocoa colored cardstock, then flattening it out again and sponging Walnut Stain Distress ink all over it.  Finally it was painted with some clear crackle paint and dried with a heat gun.  It ends up looking a lot like well-worn leather.

I did a LOT of coloring on this gorgeous image, using these Copic collections:

I'm entering my card in the C4C155 challenge, which is to make a thank you card or a Thanksgiving inspired card.

I also just loved this week's ISSC34 sketch and decided to use it as well.

SSSC168 Enjoy the Ride

Guess what, y'all!

That's right!  Can you believe it?  I was so thrilled when THIS CARD won the SSSC166 challenge at Karen Giron's The Sweetest Thing blog.   That means I have the honor of being the guest designer for SSSC168!  Yay!

This is the fantastic sketch that Karen has given us to play with this week:

I chose to use a new set- Adventure Land - that I picked up from Taylored Expressions.  It's so perfect for cards for my grandkids…or for any kid at heart really!

~

~

I took a little leeway with the sketch and moved the image panel up so that I could fit in that perfect sentiment!  My little people in the roller coaster cars are colored with Copic markers.  I coated the little cars with Glossy Accents  and then popped them up on foam mounting tape.

I used my Copic air brush system to spray the sentiment oval, and each of the O's with the stars in them are also coated with Glossy Accents.

This was a fun card to make.  I love the combination of the Jumbo Ric Rac die cut with the piece of ribbon and the Star Border die cut, don't you?  I think my grandson, Will, will like it!  This card is for his 10th birthday, which is coming up this week!

Whew!  And you may think this is a Halloween card.  It certainly has all the elements to be one.  But it's not!

~

~

This is actually the card I made for my sister's 60th birthday.  Yeah, she's WAY older than me!    She's got a great sense of humor, so I think she'll get a kick out of it!  The inside will say "Happy Birthday.....from one OLD ghoul to another!"

After I embossed the black Core'dinations paper, I sanded it with my Idea-ology Sanding Grip Block to let the lime color show through.  I distress the edges of all my layers by running my Tonic scissors all along them.  I wrapped the Honeydew Twinery twine around the distressed layer 3 times and tied it in a bow.  The graveyard scene was stamped with Memento tuxedo black ink and the EEEK! was stamped in Ranger Distress Shabby Shutters.  (All of these can be found at eclectic Paperie.)

Up a Tree - Color Throwdown #210

Hey, y'all!  Are you ready for the latest Color Throwdown challenge?  I hope so!

Tammy is our hostess with the mostess this week and has chosen a super cool and versatile combo for us to play with.

~

I decided to go whimsical this week!  I couldn't wait to ink up one of my newest stamps from Taylored Expressions - Up a Tree.  How adorable!  It just so happens that one of our grandsons has a birthday coming up and he's definitely an outdoors-type of guy.  He'll really love this!

~

~

I colored my tree canopy with Copic markers and then, using a negative mask, overstamped it with an old (retired) background stamp.  I love the way it turned out!  It's very similar to the patterned flowers in the inspiration photo.

I also used the Cloudy Days Background stamp and a sentiment from the new Adventure Land set as well.
