Are you guys ready for some more awesome creations and tutorials from the E-Team? Well, we're "distressed" and ready for you!
Part 2 of this eclectic Paperie-sponsored series is all about Wrinkle Free Distress. Sherry created the original tutorial on Splitcoaststampers and you can refer back to it whenever you need to!
I'm not going to write a lot today because I have oodles of photos to show you. So grab a cuppa and settle in, 'cause here we go!
****** As always, you can click on any photo to see it larger.
First I wanted to show you my completed project. I'm calling this piece: "Bright & Randomly Fun". Here it is:
~
Really bright, huh?
First, I chose my colors: Ranger Distress inks in Fired Brick, Spiced Marmalade, and Mustard Seed. I swiped the colors on my craft sheet and spritzed with water using a Ranger Mini-Mister. I dragged my piece of sticky back canvas through the ink, let it dry, then repeated the process until I was satisfied with the look. Then I dragged just the edges back through to give it more of a finished look.
~
Next I stamped my image, then used a paintbrush to add extra ink to the heart and banner.
~
I stamped the image again on some scrap paper, cut the heart out, and used this as a reverse mask to spritz some extra ink and then some Ranger Perfect Pearls onto the canvas. You can see that the ink spread outside the heart outline but the pearl mist didn't. Just what I wanted!
~
I inked up my tag the same way and stamped some images on it. I didn't really like the swirl in the middle of the tag, but that's ok because I'll be covering it up with the canvas.
~
Then I gathered the other items that I thought I might want to use on the tag.
Before I took the above picture, I didn't have any yellow seam binding to go with the red and orange, so I had to make my own…wrinkle-free distress binding! I inked up my craft sheet and dragged the binding all through the ink.
~
There was still ink left on the craft sheet, so I spritzed it with more water and dragged another piece of binding through the ink. As you can see, the color is lighter this time. Then I wadded up both pieces. You can either set it aside to dry, or if you're like me (impatient and lacking in the time department) you can use your Ranger Heat-it craft tool to speed up the process.
Now comes the flower. I made one of these for a card recently and was asked for a tutorial. I'm totally NOT claiming to be the first one to make one of these or to show how to do it. This is just my version.
I punched a circle of cardstock and covered it with Scor-Tape. Sometime I just use my glue runner, but Scor-Tape generally holds better.
~
I pinched the binding into a little knot and placed it in the center of the circle. Then I twisted the binding as I wrapped it around the center knot. I cut the end of the first color, then decided that I wanted the tape all the way to the edges of the circle, so I added more. This actually worked out well, because it served to hold the circle in place on the craft sheet while I twisted and placed the binding.
~
I started the second color of binding and adhered it the same way as the first, twisting it and placing it right next to the previous round. Then I started the final color for the outer rounds.
~
I loosened up on how tightly I twisted as I placed this round. You don't have to use multiple colors for the flower, but since this was to be "random", I did.
~
I used a glue dot on the back of the cardstock to attach the end of the ribbon when I was done. And here's how I keep all the little extra pieces of dyed binding that I end up with.
~
One more little tip on how to make a bright, shiny piece of metal match a darker shade of metal. Copic markers do the trick every time!
Here's the finished tag again and a few close-ups.
~
SO….now it's time for you to move on to see what my fabulous team-mates have created for you. You need to leave comments on each blog and Daisy will draw 2 winners of some of the new goodies that keep appearing daily at eclectic Paperie! Here are the links:
