FTTC221 - Butterfly Thoughts

Hey there!  It's Tuesday!  And you know that means it's time for the latest Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge!  I just loved all the beautiful blue & green creations last week!  You guys really know how to impress!

This week Jenny  is our hostess, and the challenge is to use butterflies.  How simple and how fun!

I decided to combine a few sets on my sympathy card this week.  My main focal point is the Echinacea image from With Gratitude, and I used the butterfly from the new Old Tea Rose set as well as one of the sentiments from the Winter Blossoms set.

Both the flowers and the butterflies were cut using my Silhouette and the Flourishes cut files; the flowers from Flourishes classic white cardstock and the butterflies from patterned paper.  Both were colored using these Copic collections:

The larger piece of patterned paper was inked around the edges with Distress ink and an ink blending tool.  The vellum oval was cut using a Floral Ovals die .  I also used layers from the Pistachio paper collection.  My colored images were stamped in Memento tuxedo black ink and the sentiment was stamped in Versafine onyx black ink.

FTTC206 with Sympathy sketch

Good Tuesday morning to you all!  I'm so glad it's Tuesday, because that means I get to show you another gorgeous Flourishes image colored up for our latest Timeless Tuesday challenge!

This week Ally is our hostess and she's come up with an awesome sketch for us to use!

I love to begin my creations with a sketch!  And Ally's is just perfect to showcase the Bloomin' Aussie Florals image that I've chosen to use today.

I started by cutting the image from Flourishes classic ivory cardstock using my Silhouette and the Bloomin' Aussie Florals cut file.  I stamped it in Memento Desert Sand ink and colored it with these Copic collections:

It's layered on top of some more classic ivory cardstock that was cut with the Perfectly Pierced Classic Hourglass die, then sponged with some Antique Linen ink and an ink blending tool.

I'm not sure if you can tell but my patterned paper base has been scored using my Scor-Buddy and folded a few times to add a little dimension and interest.

The sentiment, from Sentimental Favorites,  was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a Labels Four die cut that had also been sponged with Antique Linen ink.  I added a pearl flourish, and some eggshell seam binding tied up with a little Ivory Jute.

Heartfelt Sympathy - Color Throwdown #160

Hello, everyone!  I hope you're having a good week.  I'm excited because I'm going to the So You Think You Can Dance live performance tonight!    I can't wait to see Melanie, Sasha and Marko dance!  And tomorrow I'm headed to the beach again for the weekend.  Probably for the last time this year too.  I'm sad about that, but definitely plan to enjoy this weekend!

It's time to see what our Color Throwdown challenge is for this week!  Danielle is our hostess and she always chooses a beautiful color palette for us to play with!

I've seen a few people using light colored ink to stamp with lately.  So when the image is colored in, it looks totally different from how it would look with the black outlines.  That's what I tried with my card today. 

I used the Papertrey Ink Year of Flowers: Carnation stamp set and Adirondack Lake Mist ink, then colored with my Copic markers (0, T0, R0000, R81, R83, R85).

I like how this turned out, and I think I'll probably use this technique quite a bit more!
