FUN - Color Throwdown #104

Let's have some FUN!  I'm hosting the Color Throwdown this week and wanted us all to play with some fun summer colors.  So here they are:

My inspiration for these colors was summer.  All the bright, happy things of summer.  And this gave me a chance to finally color this image of Bella & Bronte, called Pool Party, from Mo's Digital Pencil shop.  I've had her for quite a while and now was the perfect time to bring her to life...in the colors of summer!

I also decided to play along with the Crazy 4 Challenges sketch challenge this week.  Here's the sketch:

Of course I had to change it up a little to fit all my elements in, but here's my final take on it:

Now that's fun!  I figured the best way to say that was with a big ole banner!  What do you think?  I actually used my Slice again (it's like the 3rd time!) to make the letters and just hand cut the banner flags.

Whale of a Birthday

Happy Monday, everyone! 

I was playing around with my Slice, which has been so sorely neglected, and practicing with the Under the Sea cartridge.

After I'd cut out a bunch of the "ocean" words in various shades of "water" colors from the H2O Monochromatic Family, I wondered if I could actually use them for the waves on a card.  So this is my attempt at doing that, using my Whale of a Tale stamp set from Our Craft Lounge.

2010 Valentines...

...for the grandkids.  George and I have 7 between us: 4 boys and 3 girls.

But I seem to have misplaced my multitude of Valentine stamps.  (Oh, the horrors!)  So I came up with a Valentine design for the kids using some chipboard and my Slice.

Each card is 4-1/4 x 4-1/4.  I chose brocade blue as the base for the boys

and lavender lace for the girls.

The chipboard hearts were painted with gesso, then colored with Copic markers.  Then I heat embossed them with star dust embossing powder.

These are definitely not your typical Valentine colors, but I really like the color combos.  Especially the purple/orange/red.

And obviously, I decided to leave out all the fru-fru stuff this year.

Love of Birds

I'm back from CHA and have rested up a little, so I was ready to do some creating!  I'll have more photos from my trip later, but I did want to show you this card I created for the Cards Blog challenge HERE.

The challenge is to create a "lovey dovey" card without using red or pink.

This is the first time that I've used something on a card that I cut using my new Slice.  Cool!  It was fun!

This card reminds me of all the birds that gather outside my back door on weekends like this.  We've just had a dusting of snow and everything is iced over.  I always make sure there is plenty of birdseed for the little guys.
