Have a Flippin' Great Birthday - Color Throwdown #240

Hey, y'all!  It's Wednesday and time for another Color Throwdown challenge!  This week it's my turn to host and this is the color combo we're using:

~

~

I know it's a little different but I really love the fresh look of the inspiration photo. 

I decided to pull out a favorite summer set and make a birthday card that any of my beach-lovin' friends would love to receive!

~

~

I used the Flipping Out stamp set from PTI and also their birthday die.    I drew 2 parallel lines on a diagonal on my white cardstock, masked the center, and stamped all the flip flops   Then I stamped the sentiment, adhered 2 tiny strips of cardstock along the lines, tied a piece of twine around it, and popped up the "birthday" on foam mounting tape.  I added a couple of coordinating sequins and it was done!

Sketched Happy Birthday - Color Throwdown #239

Hello, everyone, and happy Hump Day!

It's time for this week's edition of the Color Throwdown, and our mega-talented hostess Barbara has chosen the most lovely springtime palette for us!

I was a little short on time as I was watching "The Voice" (never miss it!), so I wanted to make this a quick CAS design.  I pulled out my brand new Sketched Shapes from PTI, designed by the oh-so-talented Maile Belles, and here's what I came up with.

It was fun and I think it turned out rather cute!  I may do a few more just like it for my stash!

Easter cards for the grandkids…

Hey there!

I just wanted to pop in for a second and show you this year's Easter cards for the grandkids.  All 8 of them.  Yeah, our kids have got to stop having kids!!

I tried to go simple but when you're making 8 cards, nothing seems simple enough!

~

~

Blue for the boys and pink for the girls, of course!  I definitely won't be able to make the same cards for everyone much longer.  The kids ages range from 14 years to 5 months.  I guess eventually I'm going to have to graduate to making adult cards for the older ones!

I do believe these cards qualify for the CAS-ual Fridays challenge this week:  CFC95 - No Stamps.

Our Town - Color Throwdown #233

Hello and happy Wednesday to you all!

Our Color Throwdown challenge this week is brought to us by the mega-talented Lori!  She always finds the most fun inspiration photos!

How cute is that photo? 

I also wanted to take this chance to say welcome to our March Guest Designer, Kim Howard!  I'm thrilled you're joining us this month, Kim!!

I recently got one of the new Claudine Hellmuth Studio 6x6 stencils - Our Town and just couldn't wait any longer to play with it!  So I pulled out a #8 kraft tag and a piece of white cardstock to get started.  I wanted a clean and simple look, but I also wanted some dimension,  so I stenciled my cute little house on a separate piece of white cardstock and set it aside to adhere with foam mounting tape later.  I also did the same with one of the hearts.

I used Spiced Marmalade and Shabby Shutters for the house, and Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick for the hearts along with a few ink blending tools.  I also wrapped some Twinery twine in Cantaloupe, Honeydew and Cappuccino around the tag.  All supplies are available at eclectic Paperie.

Happy Days - Color Throwdown #207

Hello, everyone!  It's time again for the latest Color Throwdown challenge.  Lori is our hestess this week with one of the happiest color combos I've seen!

Of course it doesn't hurt that the sweet inspiration photo is of yummy popsicles!!  Maybe that's why it makes me feel happy!

I chose to go simple this week, using a Papertrey Ink set that I've had but that had not seen ink before today - Happy Hexagons.  Of course I used the Cover Plate - Hexagons too.

Birthday Dress

Happy Friday!!  I'm SO glad the weekend is finally here!  I'm on vacation next week and I can't wait to hit that beach!!

Before that happens though I wanted to show you my card today featuring Child's Dress 11 from the  A Day For Daisies shop.  It's precious!

I just had to pair it with this week's MOJO247 sketch!  And I decided to use the round version this time.

~

~

I've found that the only problem with making a round card is that it keeps trying to roll away while I'm trying to photograph it!!  LOL!

So here's what I did to show off this sweet little ruffled frock~

I just love that sweet little wire hanger and the Fancy Pants paper too!

Life is Better - Color Throwdown #196

It's Wednesday again and time for the latest and greatest Color Throwdown challenge!  Danielle is hosting this week and she's chosen some great summertime colors for us to play with.

~

~

My card today was totally inspired by this Flipping Out card by the super-talented Debbie Olson.  I fell in love with it from the first moment I saw it!

Instead of all the masking and airbrushing, I took the lazy simple route and used some machine stitching and Copic marker coloring to achieve the wavy look.

~

~

I just love those flip flops….my every day summer foot wear (well, unless I'm barefooted)!

June Wedding Bells

Gee!  Can you believe it's June already?  Finally summertime!!!  Yay!

And you know what June means, right?  Loads of weddings!  Ah, young love.  So sweet and innocent!

Tammy Thompson has come up with some of the most beautiful wedding images ever!  Have you seen the June Club Kit?  Wow!  And this week's release is more of the same kind of wonderful, called "A June Wedding", and available now at the ADFD store and the ADFD Etsy shop!

Going hand-in-hand with the new release is the newest challenge at the ADFD blog :  Something Old, New, Borrowed, and Blue.  Of course!

I chose to color the Wedding Bells image this week and had a little fun with some "fussy cutting" and "framing" on my card.

I colored the image twice, then cut out just the flowers and ribbon which I attached by only the 2 ribbon ends to the front of the card.  The whole image is colored inside the card.

~

~

Here's what I used to meet the challenge:

• Old - I used my old Stampin' Up! oval punch.
• New - The beautiful image and the sentiment are both new.
• Borrowed - I took the orange button from a shirt that was ready for the rag pile.
• Blue - I used the blue Copic marker colors and a blue button.
