Welcome back to another fun and inspiring blog hop with the E-Team! We're presenting our second in the Seasonal Tags series. This time our challenge from our fearless leader, Daisy, is to make ANYTHING BUT A CARD using the theme "Be Thankful".
As always, Daisy will be giving prizes!! Woo hoo!! There will be 3 winners chosen randomly from all the comments on the E-Team members blog posts. And maybe even something special will be given away on the eclectic Paperie blog!
I was browsing the internet for some inspiration and came across a plethora of pumpkin ideas on Pinterest. (I just LOVE that site!!) So, the idea to make pumpkins as a Thanksgiving centerpiece was of course the first thing that came to mind. I used a couple of linked sites for my inspiration, and I'll give you the links to the original creations later on. But the pumpkin ideas that I found were so cute and simple that I just had to try them and show you my results.
So do you want to know what I started with?

Ha! That's right! Toilet paper! Here's the link to the original idea: Toilet Paper Pumpkin
And here's my process:
First I chose these papers from My Mind's Eye and Fancy Pants to use. I only had 1 sheet of each, so I also chose some orange and some black 12 x 12 cardstock to use. I cut all my sheets of paper into 2 inch strips. This gave me 6 strips of each patterned paper and 6 strips of a solid color cardstock to use for each pumpkin.

For the orange pumpkin, I inked the edges of all the patterned paper strips with Distress ink in Frayed Burlap, then crumpled and re-straightened all the strips.

I started stuffing one end of each strip of orange cardstock into the bottom of the toilet paper roll, then into the top, leaving a little space in between the strips. Then I did the same with the patterned paper strips. I also took an empty toilet paper roll, collapsed it by crushing it in my hands and then twisted it to look like a pumpkin stem.

For the blue pumpkin, I used Distress ink in Weathered Wood for the edges of the strips, and then crimped instead of crumpling them. I used Wild Honey Distress ink on the edges of the black patterned paper and crimped them as well.
The idea for the twine pumpkin came from this site: Crochet Thread Pumpkin
I had loads of these spools of thread from making crocheted flowers for my cards, so I decided to repurpose one of them. I used some gardening twine and a twig from my yard to make it look more like a pumpkin.

After adding some vines die cut with a Spellbinders border die, and tying some ribbon around each stem, this is what I had:

So that's my Seasonal Tags "Be Thankful" project. I hope you enjoyed reading about it! It's great to know that I can use this centerpiece from now through Halloween and the Thanksgiving holidays and not have to worry about the pumpkins going bad!
Now it's time to move on to see the projects of the other E-Team members. They're going to WOW you for sure!
