A Summer Hat - Just For Fun® color challenge #18

I've just got a quick post for you today, folks.  I'm composing this on Thursday night, and I've already stayed up way too late making this card and watching the results of the So You Think You Can Dance show.  (The right one went home!)

A quick and simple card using the great Sun Hat (C2777) image from Just For Fun® Rubber Stamps.  As you can see, I'm still having a love affair with the dyed seam binding.  Although this is my last already-dyed piece.  I guess I'll be getting my hands all inky this weekend.

Whale of a Birthday

Happy Monday, everyone! 

I was playing around with my Slice, which has been so sorely neglected, and practicing with the Under the Sea cartridge.

After I'd cut out a bunch of the "ocean" words in various shades of "water" colors from the H2O Monochromatic Family, I wondered if I could actually use them for the waves on a card.  So this is my attempt at doing that, using my Whale of a Tale stamp set from Our Craft Lounge.

Last week I got my Unity June Kit of the Month, and realized that I still had not even used my May KOTM!  Shocking, I know!  I even shocked myself on that one!!  When I pulled it out, this image just called directly to me, so I decided it was the one to use.

In keeping with the Unity spirit, I decided to use their sketch of the week too - HHSC12.

It's ok to have an orange (blush) sky, right?  I kind of like how it looks with a little blue mixed in...almost like a sunset or sunrise.

Rose of Sharon - Just For Fun® color challenge #16

Today's Friday!  Thank goodness!!  Time for another Just For Fun® color challenge too!  Here are the colors:

I've combined the color challenge with the Sweet Sunday sketch challenge #73 for my card.

My color hues are slightly different from a normal green-blue-yellow combination.  My blue is more of a teal and my yellow is a deep gold, running into orange.

~

~

I added some random stitching in black and zig-zag cut the black panel to echo those stitches.  I just nested 2 circle Nestabilities together to run the white paper through the Cuttlebug resulting in the circle frame.  The main flower was colored twice and one was cut out and popped up.

Aloha from Kona - Color Throwdown #97

Hello and welcome!!  It's Wednesday again, so it's time for another Color Throwdown and I'm hosting this week.  I was at the beach all last week and chose some cool coastal colors for the challenge:

To go along with the coastal colors, I chose a coastal stamp set to use - Hangin' Loose with Kona from Our Craft Lounge.  I love this little guy and he reminds me of my 2 oldest grandsons who did a lot of boogie boarding with their Nana at the beach.  Yes, I did ride the waves.  I even rode a couple of times with the 7 year old riding on my back. (I refuse to think of myself as old and unable to play!)

Kona is colored with Copics and then shaded with Prismacolor pencils.  I used my new Texture Fades folders (Dot Matrix and Gridlock).  Love 'em!  And the striped paper is cut using the On the Edge "Brackets" die.  These are all new Tim Holtz Alterations products available at eclectic Paperie.

I also used this week's Our Craft Lounge sketch OCLDT17.  What fun!  You should try it!

Beach Trio - Color Throwdown #96

Happy Wednesday, everybody!  It's time for another Color Throwdown challenge!!  This is a scheduled post...'cause I'm at the beach!  Woo hoo!  And hoping that the weather is gonna be clear and sunny!

Tammy is our uber-talented hostess for the challenge this week and I loved her color choices.

They turned out to be perfect colors for a beach scene using one of my new favorite stamp sets - Treasured Friend from Our Craft Lounge.

~

~

I don't know how well you can see the background of each of the little mini-scenes, but after stamping each frame on Pure Silk Water Color Paper, I masked off the sand and spritzed the sky with a mixture of Broken China reinker and water in a Ranger mini-mister.  Then I took my water brush and just lightly brushed over it a few times.  Pretty neat effect!  The sand is randomly brushed with Scattered Straw, Wild Honey and Pumice Stone reinkers using a water brush.  The little girls, the sentiment and the sand dollars were also stamped on the water color paper, painted, then cut out and placed in each frame.

Hope Flies - Just For Fun® color challenge #14

For our Just For Fun® color challenge this week, we're using a monochromatic theme.  You can use any one color, but only that one, in any different shades and hues that you like.

I decided to go with green because I wanted to use my Dragonfly (D1833) again and I thought he would be best in green.

~

~

The frame is stamped in Versamark and clear embossed using one of the Background Basics (RB7001) stamps, then cut using 2 Nestabilities dies.  The dragonfly background is another one of the Background Basics.  The dragonfly was stamped once on the background, then once again and cut out and mounted only attaching the body.  I went a little crazy with the buttons and twine!

In real life the ribbon matches the paper almost exactly.  I have no idea why it shows up like this in the photo.  Yuck!

A Purple Rose

A Purple Rose.  Sounds like a mix between a Prince song and a Bette Midler movie!  LOL!  But it's not!  It's my project for my post on the Couture Cardstock blog this week.

I tried something a little different for me on the background and I've provided a few photos of how I colored the rose and put it together.  You can check it out HERE.

Can you see that I used my new Mint Motif stamps??  They're wonderful and designed by my sweet friend Kimberly Crawford.  I can tell these are going to stay on my stamp table to be used over and over!

Purple and green….one of my favorite color combinations.  And what’s the perfect embodiment of purple and green?  A lovely bottle of vino!!

The image is from Just For Fun ® Rubber Stamps.  Don’t you just love the French feel of it?  I colored the glasses of wine with Tombow markers and a water brush (and yes it’s on One Sheet Wonder), then glazed them using Glossy Accents.  The rest of the image was colored with Copics.

Of course I had to get some cork in there!  I used my new Jumbo Scallop die from My Favorite Things for the cork and paper scallops.  And I made a cork button using two different size circle punches.

I made this card for my grandson Hunter's upcoming 10th birthday using Hangin' Loose with Kona and the cloud from Beach Days, both of which are from Our Craft Lounge.

I used this week's Our Craft Lounge sketch - OCLDT13 - for the layout. 

I didn't think that Hunter would appreciate a bow or a lot of ribbon, so I just layered circles and a button tied with twine on a piece of ribbon.

I used the Bigz Top Note die to cut the My Mind's Eye paper, then used the negative piece and mounted it on foam tape.  Here's a close up:
