Hey there, y’all!  It’s finally Friday!!!  OMG, I’m so glad!

But there’s more reason to celebrate!  It’s the first Friday of the month which means it’s time for the newest A Day For Daisies Club Kit!  Yay!  And to top it off it’s all about the Kittens!!  Woo hoo!  I’m such a cat lover!

You can see all the newest images at the ADFD shop and also at the ADFD blog. 

So you’re going to find this hard to believe but I didn’t choose a kitten to play with this week.  I chose a snail!  Besides the adorable kittens of the Club Kit we’re also showcasing a past release called Garden Things.  They’re adorable as well!

Hippo Birdie to You - Color Throwdown #332

Mother Moon

Hey there and happy Friday to you all!  Whoop!  Whoop!  So excited for the weekend!

Today I have another beautiful image from the latest A Day For Daisies release.  She’s called Mother Moon and she is so sweet with her precious little one  resting on the crescent moon over the night sky.

We’re starting a new challenge this week too – Make it Art-Journal~y style!

I made my night sky background using the new Color Bursts from Ken Oliver!  Oh my!  I can’t wait to try more techniques with this awesome product!  And I have to  blame this new obsession on my friend Bad Sherry! (Thanks, Sherry!)

After the background dried, I added some dots in translucent embossing paste and then some stars in gold embossing paste.

I printed the beautiful Mother Moon on watercolor paper in a light blue color so that the lines don’t stand out so much when she’s painted.  I cut her out and popped her up on foam tape.

This was all mounted on some gold glitter cardstock and then onto a piece of chipboard.

So now we can’t wait to see what you come up with!  Make it Art-Journal~y style!

Cat Fish Kittens!

Hello and happy Friday!

There’s a new release at A Day For Daisies, and it’s so DARN CUTE!  Lots of Cat Fish Kittens..or as Arielle suggested “meow-maids”!!  Adorable!

I’m using Cat Fish Kitty for my card today! She’s a princess, you know!

I used a new embossing folder called Tide.  Isn’t it awesome?  It’s so me!!

After I colored her with my Copic markers and popped her up above the waves, I added the sequins.  Then I decided that wasn’t enough sparkle for a princess and I added the Star Dust Stickles to the tops of the waves.  The stars and her crown are accented with yellow Stickles.

Wishing in Watercolor–Color Throwdown #328

Hi, everyone!  Happy Hump Day!

~

~

Are you ready for the latest and greatest edition of the Color Throwdown!?  The wonderful Barbara is our hostess this week and she chose a great palette which worked perfectly for me because I needed a  birthday card for a male coworker.

~

~

I wanted to play around with a simple water color background and began by heat embossing my sentiment (Wishing) and my dots (Bokeh Dots) in white embossing powder.  Then I wet my paper and touched and dripped some colors onto it, letting it spread.  When it all dried, I sponged some Tumbled Glass ink all over the panel, then painted the edges in Chipped Sapphire.

I cut the panel and stamped the rest of my sentiment in the white space between the 2 pieces.  Then I added the thread and bling!  Done and done!

Fairy Flower Outing

Happy Friday, y’all!

Wishing You Joy - Color Throwdown #326

Hi, all!

It’s time for the latest edition of the Color Throwdown challenge!  My lovely friend Vickie is our hostess this week and I love the combo she chose.  I think it’s one of my favorites!!

I wanted to play with my new Simon Says Stamp Sending and Wishing stamp set, along with the Wishing die.  LOVE these!!  They can be used for SO many occasions!  I also wanted to try using the Stitched Slopes and Hills die set for something other than a snowy slope!

AND I wanted to play along with the Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge #10 – Spots and Dots!

I used 2 of the slopes and the Wishing die all at one time to cut the sentiment panel.

~

~

Then I used 2 splat stamp sets (links below) to create my watercolor panel, by stamping them first, then spritzing with water and letting it all blend together and drip a little.  I added some more splats onto the wet paper too.

~

I cut the watercolor panel with my Stitched Rectangle dies, stamped the rest of the sentiment at the bottom of it then adhered it with foam mounting tape.

I also added a tiny open heart from the same set and some Moonshine sequins.

Seriously, I've started my Valentine cards - CTD #325

~

Yes, it’s never too early to start on your Valentine cards.  This was finally determined around Christmas Eve Eve when there were not nearly enough Christmas cards to go around.  So I’ve started.  On my Valentine cards.  This is the first one…using this week’s new Color Throwdown challenge.  Tammy’s the hostess and she picked a whopper of a combo.  I struggled with this one, for sure.  (Thanks so much, Tammy!)

The colors look great together, but I just couldn’t decide how to put them together for my card.  So this is what I ended up with.  I think it was the yellow that threw me off!

~

~

What’s that you say?  You don’t think someone would appreciate receiving a Valentine card that says “Seriously, you stink”??    In non-Valentine colors?  Read the fine print!  This is such a great silly stamp set from Lil’ Inker Designs!  I think I’ll use it for the majority of my Valentine cards.  I know the grandkids will get some giggles from a card like this!

It may be a little hard to see in the photo, but I used one of the Stitched Rectangle dies to impress my patterned paper layers.  It looks pretty darn cool IRL!!

A Winter Fairy Wish Bug

One Layer Hello - Color Throwdown #324

~

HAPPY NEW YEAR, y’all!!

I hope you all had a very happy and restful Christmas and New Year celebration!  I’m back from a short holiday break and ready to roll!  How about you? 

So let’s start off the new year with a brand new Color Throwdown challenge!  The oh-so-lovely Monika is our hostess today and she’s chosen a very dramatic color scheme for us to play with!  What a great inspiration photo!

I chose to stay simple and a little dramatic as well with my one-layer Hello card:

~

~

The background is simply stenciled using Wendy Vecchi translucent embossing paste and a mini vineyard TCW stencil.  I colored a die-cut piece of linen with my Dylusions Cherry Pie ink spray and dried it with my heat tool.  The hello was cut using my WPlus9 Hand-Lettered Hello die.
